During the past two weeks, I have written about this promotion three times. First to post about the leaked choices, second to confirm them after having had a look  at an internal memo, and then yesterday to write about the strategy that you should take. You can register for this promotion here.

Now, finally the SPG website devoted to this promotion is up and running. There is really nothing surprises beyond the fact that the terms and conditions of this promotion are 2707 words and the frequently asked questions 2992.

The only worthwhile thing to remember is that the deadline for registering for this promo is June 30th, 2012. You don’t have to choose the earning period earlier even, if you would eventually want it to start on May 1st. My advice would be to take into account the characteristics of this promotion i.e. if you prefer getting 500 SPG points per night at when staying at Sheraton hotels, but not to sign up before the deadline. Then, at the end of June, you can have another look, what would be the best choice for you.

Members may choose to register from one of the following options at the time of registration for the SPG® Nice Choice promotion.

Double Starpoints

Members may choose to register to earn double Starpoints beginning with their second eligible paid stay. First eligible paid stay during the earning period does not earn a bonus. Eligible paid stays must be at SPG participating properties during the three-month promotion earning period as selected by the member (see “all offer terms” for a list of earning period options). Non-participating properties can be found at spg.com/t&c, section 1.2. Members who earn double Starpoints will earn an additional two Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of four Starpoints per dollar). Elite level extra Starpoints earnings are not doubled. Only the base 2 Starpoints per dollar earnings are doubled. There is no limit to the number of bonus Starpoints that can be earned during the promotion earning period. Bonus Starpoints will be credited to the member’s account within 2–4 weeks of the stay posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account. 3,000 bonus Starpoints

Members may choose to register to earn 3,000 bonus Starpoints after every six (6) eligible paid nights, up to a maximum of 9,000 bonus Starpoints after 18 paid nights. Eligible paid nights must be at SPG participating properties during the three-month promotion earning period as selected by the member (see “all offer terms” for a list of earning period options). Nights do not have to be consecutive and can be accumulated across multiple stays. Non-participating properties can be found at spg.com/t&c, section 1.2. Bonus Starpoints will be credited to the member’s account within 2–4 weeks of the stay posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account that has 6th, 12th, and 18th eligible night. Triple Starpoints

Members may choose to register to earn triple Starpoints on all eligible stays once they have stayed 15 eligible paid nights. Bonus is retroactive to all eligible paid stays during the earning period once the member completes 15 eligible paid nights. Nights do not have to be consecutive and can be accumulated across multiple stays. Eligible paid stays and nights must be at SPG participating properties during the three-month promotion earning period as selected by the member (see “all offer terms” for a list of earning period options). Non-participating properties can be found at spg.com/t&c, section 1.2. Members who earn triple Starpoints will earn an additional four Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of six (6) Starpoints per dollar). Elite level extra Starpoints earnings are not tripled. Only the base 2 Starpoints per dollar earnings are tripled. There is no limit to the number of bonus Starpoints that can be earned during the promotion period. 500 bonus Starpoints per night at Sheraton hotels and resorts

Members may choose to register to earn 500 bonus Starpoints per eligible paid night at Sheraton Hotels and Resorts worldwide. Eligible paid nights must be at Sheraton hotels that participate in the SPG program during the three-month promotion earning period as selected by the member (see “all offer terms” for a list of earning period options) and the stays must be booked online at either spg.com, Sheraton.com, or Starwoodhotels.com websites. Stays booked through other channels, including the Starwood customer contact center, are not eligible for the bonus Starpoints. Bonus Starpoints will be credited to the member’s account within 2–4 weeks of the Sheraton stay posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account. Free Weekend Night

Members may choose to register to earn one (1) Free Weekend Night in a standard room at a Category 1–5 hotel or resort after ten (10) eligible paid nights, up to a maximum of two Free Weekend Nights after 20 eligible paid nights. Eligible paid stay(s) must be at SPG participating properties during the three-month promotion earning period as selected by the member (see “all offer terms” for a list of earning period options). Non-participating properties can be found at spg.com/t&c, section 1.2. Free Weekend Night(s) Awards must be redeemed and used by December 23, 2012, for any Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night, and can be redeemed by calling your local SPG Customer Contact Center and mentioning Free Weekend Night Award ID NCHFN. Free Weekend Night Award stay(s) and night(s) will count toward elite earning qualification. Free Weekend Night Award(s) are combinable and may be added to existing paid or Award stays; however, the Free Weekend Night Awards are nontransferable and may not be given as gifts. Unused Awards are forfeited. Free Weekend Night Awards will post to the member’s account within 2–3 weeks of the eligible paid stays comprising the 10th and 20th nights posting to the member’s account. 25%-Off Starpoints Redemption Award

Members may choose to register to earn one (1) 25%-off Starpoints redemption Award with 20 eligible paid nights during the three-month promotion earning period as selected by the member (see “all offer terms” for a list of earning period options), up to a maximum of two (2) awards after 40 eligible paid nights during the promotion earning period as selected by the member. Eligible paid nights must be at SPG participating properties. Non-participating properties can be found at spg.com/t&c, section 1.2. 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award(s) must be redeemed and used by December 23, 2012. Offer is nontransferable. Starwood Preferred Guest members must call 1-888-625-4991 or their nearest Starwood Preferred Guest Customer Contact Center and mention Award ID NCH. Each 25%-off Redemption Award may be redeemed for one stay at a Category 1–5 hotel or resort for up to a five-night stay. This 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award excludes Category 6 and 7 properties, 5th Night Free, and Upgrade Awards. 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Awards and “no blackout dates” apply to standard room categories only. 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award stays will count toward elite qualification. Eligible paid nights must be at SPG participating properties during the three-month promotion earning period as selected by the member (see “all offer terms” for a list of earning period options). Can anyone register for this promotion?

Any SPG member may register at spg.com/nicechoice by June 30, 2012, midnight EDT. Nonmembers may join the program and register simultaneously, also at spg.com/nicechoice.

When can I register for the promotion?

An SPG member must register by June 30, 2012, midnight EDT; furthermore referred to as the “registration period.”

How many offers may a member choose as part of this promotion?

A member may select one (1) offer from the offers presented.

What are the dates I can qualify to earn the reward?

Each registered member must select an earning period. Members may choose from:
1) May 1, 2012, through July 31, 2012 or
2) June 1, 2012, through August 31, 2012 or
3) July 1, 2012, through September 30, 2012.

Members may only choose one earning period, and the months within that earning period are consecutive. Earning period selected will be referred to as the member’s “promotion earning period.”

Can I change my promotion earning period after I register for the promotion?

No. Once members select their promotion earning period, it cannot be changed at any time after promotion registration.

Can I change my offer after I register for the promotion?

If I select May through July as my promotion earning period, will eligible paid stays or nights prior to registration count toward my earning?

At what Starwood hotels and resorts am I eligible to earn my reward?

A member may earn his or her chosen reward(s) at any Starwood hotel and resort that participates in the SPG program. A list of Starwood hotels that do not participate in the program can be found at spg.com/t&c, section 1.2.

What qualifies as an eligible paid stay?

An eligible paid stay is any night at an SPG participating hotel or resort paying a qualifying rate that earns Starpoints as defined by the SPG Terms & Conditions (spg.com/t&c). Stays booked through pre-paid third-party channels, such as Orbitz.com, Expedia.com, Travelocity.com, etc., are not eligible rate plans, and so the member may not earn Starpoints and will not qualify for any bonus offer. Cash & Point stays and Free Night Award stays do not count as a qualifying stay for this promotion.

Will I earn stay and night credits toward Elite status?

A member will earn stay and night credits as he or she normally does while earning toward their chosen reward.

Can I take advantage of other bonus promotions at the same time?

Yes. However, each promotion earns bonuses independently of each other.

DOUBLE STARPOINTS® after your 2nd stay

How many Starpoints do I earn for double Starpoints?

A member will earn 4 total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent starting with the second eligible paid stay during the promotion earning period the member selected. Starpoint bonuses earned as part of elite benefits are not doubled.

Is there a limit on the number of Starpoints I can earn?

There is no limit to the number of Starpoints members can earn during the promotion earning period they selected.

Every 6 nights, earn 3,000 Starpoints

Is there a limit on the number of Starpoints I can earn?

Yes. Members who select this offer will receive a maximum of 9,000 Starpoints. Members will receive 3,000 bonus Starpoints after they complete their 6th eligible paid night, 3,000 bonus Starpoints after they complete their 12th eligible paid night, and then 3,000 bonus Starpoints after they complete their 18th eligible paid night.

A member must complete 15 eligible nights during the promotion earning period he/she selected. Once the stay with the 15th eligible night posts, the member will be awarded triple Starpoints for all stays during the promotion earning period — even those completed prior to the 15th night.

How many Starpoints do I earn for triple Starpoints?

A member will earn 6 total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent if they complete 15 eligible nights during the promotion earning period the member selected. Starpoint bonuses earned as part of elite benefits are not tripled.

Is there a limit on the number of bonus Starpoints I can earn?

Members may earn a maximum of 500 bonus Starpoints per night for each paid night they stay at a Sheraton hotel or resort during the earning period selected by the member. Nights must be booked online and there is no limit on the number of Starpoints a member can earn.

From which websites must I book for this offer to be applicable?

Members selecting this offer must book their eligible paid Sheraton stays at spg.com, Sheraton.com, or Starwoodhotels.com. Stays booked through the Starwood customer contact center or other SPG-eligible channels will allow the member to earn his or her base Starpoint earnings and earn stay and night credit toward elite status, but not the 500 bonus Starpoints.

Where can the Free Weekend Night Awards be redeemed?

Free Weekend Night Awards earned with this promotion can be redeemed at any Category 1–5 Starwood hotel or resort for a standard room.

What is the expiration date on the Free Weekend Night Awards?

Free Weekend Night Awards earned with this promotion must be used by December 23, 2012.

How soon will Free Weekend Night Awards appear in my account?

Free Weekend Night Awards will post to the member’s account within 2–3 weeks after the stay with the 10th and 20th eligible night posts to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest® account.

How do I redeem a Free Weekend Night Award?

To redeem a Free Weekend Night Award, SPG members in the U.S. or Canada should call 1-888-625-4988. Elite members should call their dedicated Gold or Platinum customer service lines. What days of the week can I redeem a Free Weekend Night Award for?

Members may redeem a Free Weekend Night Award for any Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday night through December 23, 2012.

Is a Free Weekend Night Award valid for existing reservations?

Free Weekend Night Awards may not be automatically used in place of an existing paid or other Award reservation. Members may cancel an existing reservation and attempt to rebook the same stay in order to use a Free Weekend Award, but they risk losing availability, and cancellation fees could apply.

Do stays using Free Weekend Night Awards count toward elite qualification?

Yes.

Do Free Weekend Night Awards redeemed count toward SPG Lifetime™ night qualification?

Yes.

If I earn more than one Free Weekend Night Award, can I use them on consecutive dates under one reservation, or can I use them for separate stays?

Yes. Free Weekend Night Awards can be redeemed for separate weekends or consecutively for the same weekend.

Can I use my Free Weekend Night Award as part of a longer stay that has paid nights?

Yes. Free Weekend Night Awards can be used alone or as part of a longer stay.

Can I use my Free Weekend Night Award as part of a longer stay that has other free nights redeemed?

Yes.

Can I use Starpoints to upgrade my Free Weekend Night Award to a better room?

A member may check at the hotel on the availability of using Starpoints for an upgrade through Instant AwardsSM. However, upgrades on Free Weekend Night Awards cannot be done online or through customer service ahead of the reservation.

Can I use Suite Night Awards™ to upgrade my Free Weekend Night Award to a better room?

Yes.

Do Free Weekend Night Awards combined with other free nights qualify me for 5th Night Free redemptions?

No they do not.

Can I gift my Free Weekend Night Award?

Awards are not transferable and may not be given as a gift.

What if I don’t use some or all of my Free Weekend Night Awards by December 23, 2012?

Where and how can I use my 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award(s)?

Each Award may be used at any Category 1–5 Starwood hotel or resort for standard rooms. One Award is applicable for up to a five-night stay.

To what types of stays can I apply my 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award?

The Awards may be used for Free Night Awards redeemed with Starpoints. Cash & Points stays, Upgrade Awards and 5th Night Free Awards are not applicable.

What if I apply my 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award to a stay that is less than five nights?

Members can only apply each 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award to one stay up to five nights. There is no compensation if the Award is redeemed for fewer than five nights.

Can I combine two 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Awards together to use for a stay longer than 5 nights?

No, each 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award must be used for separate and unique stays.

How soon after my eligible night posts will the 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Award appear in my account?

The Award will appear within one (1) week after the stay that comprises the 20th or 40th eligible paid night posts.

Do the 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Awards expire?

Yes. The 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Awards must be used by December 23, 2012.

Can I gift 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Awards?

Awards are not transferable and may not be given as a gift.

Do stays using 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Awards count toward elite qualification?

Yes.

Do nights using 25%-off Starpoints Redemption Awards count toward SPG Lifetime™ status?

Yes.

SPG® Award Certificates

How and when will I receive my Award certificate?

Members will receive their Award certificate(s) within 4–6 weeks after the promotion earning period. The certificate(s) will be mailed to the SPG address on the member’s profile. Members living in China will be asked to enter the address they want the certificate shipped to during registration.

Where can I use the certificates?

Members may use the certificates at any of the over 1,000 Starwood hotels and resorts that participate in the SPG program.

What can I use my certificate for?

The certificates may be redeemed for any items charged to an SPG folio, including food & beverage charges, spa services, and room charges.

Can I use multiple certificates at the same time?

Yes. Members may use multiple certificates during separate stays or on the same stay.

Do my certificates expire?

SPG Award Certificate(s) must be redeemed by December 31, 2012.

What if I lose my certificate or it gets stolen?

SPG is not responsible for lost or stolen certificates.

Are certificates transferable?

SPG members may transfer the certificates to other SPG members; however, the certificates may not be sold or bartered.

Westin Home Collection and Sheraton At Home Discount codes

How do I receive my discount code?

SPG will email the member an electronic discount code to redeem online. A member must provide SPG with an email address during the registration process so he/she can receive the code.

When will I receive my discount code?

Members will receive their discount code(s) within 4 weeks after their promotion earning period ends.

Where can I use the discount code?

Westin discount codes may be used at the Westin Home Collection website at westin-hotelsathome.com. Sheraton discount codes may be used at Sheraton At Home website at Sheraton-hotelsathome.com. Codes in U.S. dollars may be used on the U.S. site while codes in Euros may be used on the European site.

If I live outside of the U.S. or Europe, can I still use the codes?

Yes; however, the codes must be used on the applicable U.S. or European sites based on the currency the member selected for the codes. Westin Home Collection and Sheraton At Home do not ship to Russia. Additional international shipping charges could apply.

What is the maximum number of codes I can receive?

One member may receive a maximum of three (3) codes for $50 or €50 apiece, for a total of $150 or €150.

Are the discount codes combinable if I earn more than one?

Only the codes earned through this promotion are eligible to be combined, up to a maximum of three (3), for a total of $150 or €150. Codes earned through this promotion may not be combined with another Westin Home Collection or Sheraton At Home promotion or offers.

Do the discount codes expire?

Yes. They must be used by December 31, 2012. Unused discount codes are forfeited.

What if I purchase an item for less than $50 or less than €50?

The discount codes are eligible to be applied to one (1) purchase checkout. If the checkout amount is less than $50/€50, the member forfeits the unused portion of the code.

What if lose my code?

Codes cannot be replaced if lost.

ELITE QUALIFYING NIGHT

What are the maximum number of Elite Qualifying Nights I can earn?

A member who registers for the “stay 5 nights, earn 1 bonus night” offer can earn a maximum of three (3) Elite Qualifying Nights. A member who registers for the “stay 10 nights, earn 3 bonus nights” can earn a maximum of six (6) Elite Qualifying Nights.

When will the bonus Elite Qualifying Nights post to my account?

All bonus Elite Qualifying Nights will post October 2012, regardless of when the member earned them.

Do bonus Elite Qualifying Nights count toward SPG Lifetime nights qualification?

No.

Do bonus Elite Qualifying Nights help me qualify for the Gold tier, Platinum tier, Platinum 50 nights benefits, Platinum 75 nights benefits, or Platinum 100 nights benefits?

Yes.

Do I earn any bonus Elite Qualifying Stay credit as part of this promotion?

No. Only bonus Elite Qualifying Nights credit is given.
