You Can Now Write a Review about InterContinental Hotels on Their Website

You can now write a short review of the InterContinental hotel where you have stayed at on their website. Starwood launched a similar initiative late last year.

As always, I wanted to test this review process and decided to write a short review of InterContinental Manila where I stayed at this past May. You can access the review submission interface by going to http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/intercontinental/en/gb/locations/reviews/write-a-review/manila and switching the city at the end.

You need to have your reservation number, last name, and the date of check out available. It seems that they want to validate that these reviews are done by actual hotel guests.

Then you will give hotel the overall guest experience rating. As you can see, my stay at this property was very good.

You need to do a write up of between 75 to 500 words. I decided to point out that they honored most of the Royal Ambassador benefits even on an award stay.

Conclusion

It seems that leaving review of properties is slowly coming to all hotel websites. Personally, I prefer reading on an independent website like TripAdvisor or FlyerTalk than the branded site. I just always have a feeling that they really don’t want to publish reviews that are critical of the property in question.

There are also lots of rules regarding what you can write if you want your InterContinental review published. The terms are whopping 1139 words. The submission guidelines are somewhat reasonable few hundred words.

Let’s see if my favorable review of the InterContinental Manila will get published on one day.

By submitting any ratings, reviews, personally identifiable information, photographs, or other information (“Content”) while using the Service, you represent and warrant that:

  • You have recently stayed at the hotel (the “Hotel”) to which your rating and review applies;
  • You are the sole author and owner of all intellectual property rights relating to the Content that you submit;
  • You have attained the age of majority in the jurisdiction where you reside;
  • You are not currently an employee or contractor of IHG or any of its affiliates or licensees; and
  • The Content you supply does not violate these Terms of Use or the IHG Guest Ratings and Reviews Submission Guidelines (the “Guidelines”) and is not intended to cause injury to any person or entity.

You agree that you shall not submit any of the following Content, and Reviews containing such Content will not be published:

  • That is not original or that violates the rights of any third party;
  • That contains the full name, email address, URL, phone number, physical address or other form of contact information or personally identifiable information of any person, including yourself;
  • That is false, inaccurate or misleading;
  • That is, or may reasonably be considered to be, obscene, pornographic, defamatory, libelous, hateful, racially or religiously biased or offensive, or unlawfully threatening or harassing to any individual, partnership or corporation;
  • That contains critical or spiteful comments on other posted review(s) or their authors;
  • That includes any concerns or claims that could lead to legal action;

Reasons for which published reviews may be removed from the website include, but are not limited to:

  • The review is determined by IHG to be fraudulent.
  • The hotel has gone through a renovation since the review was published that renders the Content of the review to be an inaccurate representation of the property.
  • The hotel has undergone a change in ownership and/or management since the review was published that makes reviews relating to the quality of the hotel management and/or service an inaccurate representation of the new management and/or service.

You further agree that:

  • By submitting your Content, you expressly authorize IHG and its affiliates, franchisees, and third party service providers to collect, process, use and display your Content for any lawful, business-related purpose, to store the Content at and transmit it to various locations, either directly or through its third party service providers and/or franchisees, throughout the world, and to contact you regarding your Content.
  • Your contact information and reservation confirmation number, check out date, and Priority Club Rewards number will be available to the Hotel;
  • For any Content that you submit using the Service, you voluntarily waive all copyright “moral rights” that you may have in such Content, and you grant IHG, its affiliates and franchisees a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable right and license, but not the obligation, to use, copy, delete in its entirety, adapt, publish, license, print, display, transmit, translate, create derivative works from and/or sell and/or distribute such Content and/or incorporate such Content into any form, medium or technology, now known or hereafter devised, throughout the world without notice or compensation to you.
  • IHG reserves the right to change, condense, remove, or refuse to post any Content for any reason at any time without notice on IHG websites (including without limitation www.priorityclub.com, www.ihg.com, www.ichotelsgroup.com, www.intercontinental.com, www.hotelindigo.com, www.crowneplaza.com, www.holidayinn.com, www.hiexpress.com, hiclubvacations.com, www.holidayinnresorts.com, www.staybridge.com, www.candlewoodsuites.com) that IHG deems, in its sole discretion, violates these Terms of Use or the Guidelines.

The failure of IHG to act with respect to a breach by you or others does not waive its right to act with respect to subsequent or similar breaches.
  • IHG will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential damages arising out of any use of the Service or your submission of the Content.
  • Any disputes arising out of or related to the Service or the Content or these Terms of Use shall be handled individually without any class action, and shall be governed by, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the state of Georgia.
  • IHG may revise and/or update these Terms of Use at any time without notice.
