Instant Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Gold + 1000 Bonus Starpoints per Stay for Clear Members

by John Ollila on October 11, 2012

Starwood is offering an instant SPG Gold status and 1K bonus Starpoints for stays before December 31 for Clear members that enroll to the program by December 31, 2012. The maximum bonus Starpoints that you can earn under this offer is 10000 i.e 10 stays. You can access this offer here. You can combine this offer with SPG’s Better By The Night promotion.

If you already have a SPG account but don’t have any status and have SPG stays coming up, it is a no lose proposition to sign up using a new account and later merge them.

If you already have Gold or Platinum status with Starwood, I would contact the SPG customer service to find out if they could apply the bonus point promotion to your account regardless. You don’t have anything to lose and maximum of 10K Starpoints to gain.

Here’s the list of the main benefits of the SPG Gold status:

• Three Starpoints® per U.S. dollar spent — that’s a 50% bonus over base level members.
• A complimentary welcome gift at check-in with each stay.
• An enhanced room at check-in, when available.1
• 4 p.m. late checkout.2

Conclusion

Clear made an offer for complimentary access for some SPG members earlier in the year. Now, it is SPG’s turn to offer something for Clear members.

Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:

By enrolling, you accept the terms and conditions of the Starwood Preferred Guest® (SPG®) program, which can be found at spg.com and are subject to change without notice, and you opt to receive direct mail communications. Offer is valid for recipient of this email only, who must be a current Clear member and not currently an SPG member, and is nontransferable. Recipient must register for offer before December 31, 2012. Offer is void for employees of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Gold Preferred Guest membership is valid through February 2014. To earn Gold status through February 2015, you must meet the standard elite-level qualifications in 2013. Bonus Starpoints® will be earned in increments of 1,000 Starpoints per qualifying stay from September 1 through December 31, 2012; maximum of 10,000 bonus Starpoints may be earned. An eligible stay is one or more consecutive nights at the same participating property, regardless of the number of check-ins and checkouts, paying a rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints and that posts to the member’s SPG account. A list of non-SPG participating properties can be found at spg.com/t&c under section 1.2. Stays must commence on or after September 1, 2012, and be completed by December 31, 2012, and you must present your SPG number at check-in to earn the bonus Starpoints. It was free for SPG Gold/Platinum members in cities where Clear had their express lanes at the airports.I have no idea how one could get it free right now.

I just signed up with clear membership, but still saying I am qualified for this offer. Is it because I am an existing SPG member?

Qualified or disqualified? If disqualified, I would try other address.

Maybe you can escalate it with Clear/Starwood? I would not mention that you signed up for Clear just to take advantage of the Starwood offer though.
