Marriott Spring 2013 MegaMiles Promotion

Marriott Rewards has launched their Spring 2013 MegaMiles promotion that is valid for stays between February 1 and April 30, 2013. You need to have your earning preference set to miles and then you can register for this promotions here.

Note that there are two different options:

1. You can earn double airline miles starting from your second stay

or

2. 6000 bonus miles after 10 paid nights + additional 10000 bonus miles after 20 paid nights for maximum total bonus miles of 16000

The default promotions is for double airline miles during the promotional period. If you have had a lot Marriott stays in the not so distant past, you may have been targeted for the second promotion.

Marriott has also their regular Marriott Spring 2013 MegaBonus during the same time frame. I would stay that for most collecting Marriott Rewards points and using them for awards nights or issuing travel packages is a better deal.

Conclusion

You should crunch the numbers, whether the MegaBonus or MegaMiles promotions makes more sense for you. Personally, I will participate to the MegaBonus and collect the three free night certificate after 6 stays.

Here are the terms and conditions of these offers:

Double Miles:

  1. Earning period is February 1 – April 30, 2013.

  2. Enrollment and registration with Marriott Rewards® is required to be eligible for this promotion.

  3. A ‘stay’ is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity.

  4. Members electing to earn Marriott Rewards points are not eligible for this promotion.

  5. This Marriott Rewards promotional offer is valid only for qualifying stays you personally make at participating Marriott® brand hotels.

  6. Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit and MVC owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for credit.

  7. Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.

  8. Base miles will be earned for each paid stay, PLUS earn double miles every paid stay, beginning with the second stay.

  9. Marriott Rewards base mileage earned for qualifying charges is calculated based on the airline loyalty program’s “currency” (points or miles).

  11. For participating airline partners whose earning currency is in kilometers, bonus miles earned will be converted into kilometers at a conversion rate of 1.6 prior to posting to member’s preferred airline account.

  12. Miles earned on all qualifying charges at JW Marriott®, Autograph Collection® Hotels, Renaissance® Hotels, Marriott® Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Vacation Club® brands; and on room rate only at EDITION®, AC Hotels by Marriott(SM), Gaylord Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott®, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott®, SpringHill Suites by Marriott®, Residence Inn by Marriott® and TownePlace Suites by Marriott® brands.

  13. Stays at our exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton®, will count toward achievement.

  14. Miles are earned based on qualifying charges that are charged to the hotel room: room rate, meals, beverages, phone calls, movies, purchases at a Marriott-operated Gift Shop.

  15. Non-qualifying charges are: taxes, paid outs, gift certificate redemption/gift card purchases, banquet, catering and group charges.

6000 miles after 10 nights and 10000 additional bonus miles after 20 nights:

  1. Registration is required.

Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by April 30, 2013 will earn 6,000 bonus miles after 10 paid nights plus an additional 10,000 bonus miles after 20 paid nights – up to a maximum of 16,000 bonus miles for stays made between February 1 and April 30, 2013, at participating Marriott properties.

  3. The member receiving this offer has been specifically targeted and the offer is not transferable.
