Updated Priority Club Master Property List and What Award Category Changes Will Mean to You

Priority Club will unveil later today (January 18) the new award classification of its 4500 hotels. Per press release of this change, approximately 30% of the hotels will go down in the number of points required and 30% will go up.

Priority Club has refused to release a list of hotels that are moving up or down in number of points required. Here’s the updated InterContinental Hotels Group / Priority Club Master Property List with point requirements prior to January 18 award chart revamp.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. If you currently have award reservations, you should check the new point requirement. In case that the number of points required for the free night have gone down, you need to call Priority Club service center for them to refund you back the point difference. You can do this online by first making a duplicate at the lower rate and then refunding the previous one.

2. In case that the number of points required for free night has gone up, you have until March 18 to change the dates of your award reservation(s). After March 18, you need to cancel your award reservation and rebook at higher point level if you need to switch dates.

3. If you are booking an award stay between January 18 and March 18, 2013, you should always check what the number of points require for a free night has previously been.

Holiday Inn – If the price of the award room is more than 25K, it has gone up for sure. Call Priority Club service center. If the award night costs 15K, 20K or 25K points per night, you need to check the previous point requirement. Consult the above PDF. If the property is no listed there, call Priority Club. Candlewood Suites – If the price of the award is 10K, it is the minimum charged by the Priority Club rewards and thus no need to call. If the price is higher than 20K per night, you need to call Priority Club to claim your points back. If the price is 20K, you have to check if the previous price was 15K. Consult the above PDF. Staybridge Suites – If the price of the award room is 10K or 15K per night, it has gone down and is the lowest charged by the program. If the price per night is higher than 25K, it has gone up and you need to contact Priority Club. If the price is 25K per night, you have to check the previous award night requirement. Crowne Plaza – If the price is 20K or lower, there is no need to contact Priority Club. You have the lowest price as the previous lowest award requirement for Crowne Plaza was 25K per night. If the new price is 30K per night, the price of the night has gone up or down. You have to check the PDF or call Priority Club. If the price of the night is 40K or higher, the point price have gone up. Call Priority Club and have them adjust the price. If the price is 35K per night, you have to check the previous award night point requirement. Consult the above PDF. If the property is no listed there, call Priority Club. InterContinental – If the price of the free night is 25K or lower, there is no need to contact Priority Club as the previous floor for IC award night was 30K per night. If the price of the award night is 35K or 45K it has either gone down or up, consult the PDF. If the price of the award night is 30K, 40K, or 50K, it has gone up/down/stayed at the same. Consult the PDF. Call the Priority Club and request points back if the price has gone up.

Conclusion

Priority Club / InterContinental Hotels Group would have made it easier for all of us had they released a list of properties moving up/down. This “honoring” the old chard until March 18 but not actually publishing a list, is onerous or the member. They know that most of the folks probably won’t follow up and just overpay.
