Top Hotel Promotions for January 2013

It is somewhat slim picking right now. Marriott’s previous MegaBonus has run out and the new one is about to start next month. There is nothing out from Hyatt.

1. SPG Power Up + Le Meridien Bonus (North America) + Air Canada Aeroplan bonus (Canada)

You can make a bundle with Starwood if you can take advantage of the Power Up and Le Meridien promotions that Starwood is running concurrently. Also, there is additional bonus for Aeroplan miles for stays in Canada. For maximizing these three bonuses, you need to stay at the Le Meridien hotel in Montreal!

2. Hilton Double points or Miles with the Virgin Atlantic Twist

Hilton has a promotion for double points or miles. Essentially, if you choose Virgin Atlantic as your fixed double dip partner and later convert the miles back to Hilton HHonors, you can earn 2000 bonus Hilton HHonors per stay in addition to the 2000 bonus points that you would get just converting the base Virgin miles back to Hilton.

3. Starting Fresh with Priority Club and Signing Up For One Time Bonuses

It is time of the year when many are looking to explore some new hotels and their programs. I think that Priority Club is still quite good IF you start up fresh. You can sign up for instant Le Club Accorhotels status and then do a status match to Priority Club Platinum.

Sign up for the all one time bonuses and have five stays to hit stay bonus. You should earn 30K to 40K Priority Club points in just five stays.

4. Club Carlson Triple Points

You will earn 60 Club Carlson Gold Points per dollar spent (20 base + 40 bonus). This is before any elite or online booking bonuses. Not bad.

Conclusion

It is interesting to see how 2013 will play out on the hotel promotions side. The 2012 wasn’t as good as 2011. Both Hilton and SPG had free night promotions in 2011 that they didn’t repeat in 2012. I truly hope that they make a return in 2013. And let’s not even talk about Hyatt’s promotional performance (or lack there off) in 2012.
