EVA Air Likely Full Star Alliance Member By Mid-June

by John Ollila on March 12, 2013

EVA Air and Star Alliance signed an agreement in Taipei on March 29, 2012, that the airline would join the alliance in 2013 after meeting the entry requirements. The expected date that was announced in 2012 was 2nd quarter of 2013.

Now, there has been industry wide rumors that the airline would officially join the alliance in early/mid-June this year.

I just wanted to give a heads up about the likely joining date of the EVA Air to the Star Alliance.

You will receive the full alliance wide Star Alliance Silver and Gold benefits, when flying in on EVA Air, once the airline is a full member. You can then also earn and burn miles on all Star Alliance member airlines’ frequent flier programs on EVA Air.

Hey cool, I lived in Taipei for several years and loved it. Still think it’s Asia’s most under-rated city. The photo of the Hello Kitty plane made me laugh!

I have been to Taipei twice and really liked the city. The hotels are becoming pricey, however.
