by John Ollila on June 5, 2013

In anticipation to EVA Air’s joining the Star Alliance on 18th of this month, Star Alliance briefly posted the information about mapping the EVA’s membership levels to alliance wide Star Alliance Silver and Gold status.

EVA Air’s frequent flier program has been called the Evergreen Club, but now they have come up with this new name that is frankly put somewhat challenging.

How anyone could have chosen the name of Infinity MileageLands for the English name of their frequent flier program?

Here’s the list of names that other Star Alliance use for their frequent flier programs:

EVA Air Infinity MileageLands is a really long name for a frequent flier program and likely means something really thoughtful in Chinese, but that doesn’t translate too well to English, however.

Do you think EVA Air, with reference to their upcoming admission into Star Alliance, will run a new members welcome-promo of some kind, to get their frequent flyer program more international attention?

They might have some promotions for extra miles with alliance partners, but airlines rarely seem to have any kind of membership drive at the time of joining an alliance.

I would have preferred ” Infinity Mileagelands Forever”

nope, the Chinese name literally means “infinity ten thousand miles tour”

They really would have needed some brand agency help with this name.

I think you forgot to list the North American star alliance members UA and US…

You are right. The US will move to Oneworld on March 31, 2014.
