American Airlines is offering an award discount of 2,500 miles oneway (5,000 miles return) for awards trips between contiguous 48 States or Canada and Hawaii.
This offer is valid for travel dates between September 11 and December 13, 2013, that are booked by September 13. You can access AA’s web page for this offer here.
Using miles for travel doesn’t often makes sense, as there are quite often sales around (outside of the days around the holidays). I have been to Hawaii many times but always on paid tickets.
Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:
This award special is valid for travel on flights marketed and operated by American Airlines between Hawaii and the U.S. or Canada, excluding Alaska and the U.S. Virgin Islands, for MileSAAver Off-peak Economy Class award. Award inventory is subject to seat availability and capacity controls, and seats for award travel may not be available on all flights. Standard AAdvantage award travel terms and conditions apply. AAdvantage flight awards are subject to, and the passenger is responsible for, the September 11th Security Fee, applicable departure taxes, federal inspection fees, passenger facility charges and any other taxes and fees imposed by a government entity (U.S. or foreign), as well as any carrier imposed fees or surcharges.
