You need to use the promotion code HTCUP (special offer code-field) at the time of making the reservation for the discount to show up.

The terms and conditions state and that you should confirm and pay the stay using the UnionPay card. Based on my personal experience, hotels could care less about the form of payment that you use to settle the bill.

Here’s rate display for Grand Hyatt Taipei:

The discount showed up just fine and was 20% off of the Hyatt Daily Rate

Conclusion

This is a nice 20% discount for properties that tend not to discount otherwise. It is not necessary available every day, as it is based on availability.

There are often other discounts available during the year end holiday season, so remember to check the prices using all available offers.

I like these rates and would like to book them- But what do you do then if at Check-in time the Hotel requires to see your Union pay card (that I do not have)

    • It is up to the individual properties, whether they enforce the rate rules or not.

Based on my personal experience, as I have written above, properties rarely if ever care what form of payment that you use.

Of course this doesn’t mean that there aren’t properties that would go by the rate rules.

I tried to book under this code and pay using a Hyatt Visa. The system cause an error that wouldn’t let me move forward. I ended up removing the discount code and the reservation was confirmed using the same Visa, so it wasn’t my browser or the portal causing the error. BTW, it was for the Hyatt Manila, which wasn’t listed as participating but it did generated a discounted price…

        • It likely requires the reservation to be “guaranteed” using a UnionPay credit card number. There must be a syntax out there that explains how you can get the digits right.
