IHG Rewards Club has a weekend offer for stays at participating hotels in Europe between now and February 28, 2014, at up to 40% off.

The offer is called European Winter Weekend Breaks and IHG Rewards Club members are eligible for an additional 10% off. The rate is available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, although some hotels may offer midweek availability as well.

You can access this offer on IHG’s website here and it should be breakfast inclusive.

The maximum discount is brand specific:

  • Holiday Inn hotels – save up to 40%
  • Holiday Inn Express hotels – save up to 40%
  • Crowne Plaza hotels – save up up to 40%
  • Hotel Indigo hotels – save up to 25%
  • Intercontinental hotels – save up to 30%

Here’s rate display for Intercontinental Berlin

I first tried to pull up this fare for Intercontinental Prague but failed. The Intercontinental Berlin had it properly loaded, however. The discount seems to be 25% off of the Best flexible rate once you add the breakfast charge to it.

Conclusion

The winter weekends in cold European cities means that the business hotels have very low occupancy. Good that they try to stir up some demand by offering discounts.

Here are the terms and conditions of this offer (that seems to be a copy paste from some previous offer as the some of the dates don’t make too much sense as they are in the past):

Book between 26 Dec 2013 and 31 Jan 2014 for a stay between 1 Jan and 28 Feb 2014 at selected (see participation list above) European Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo and InterContinental hotels and receive savings of up to 40% (Holiday Inn), 40% (Holiday Inn Express), 40% (Crowne Plaza) 25% (Hotel Indigo) and 30% (InterContinental Hotels) when you book an Advance Saver BB weekend stay (including a Fri, Sat or Sun night).

Free late check-out is available on stays ending on a Saturday or Sunday for stays between 1 Dec and 25 Dec 2013 and is subject to availability. Late check-out is at 1pm and “[Christmas Late Check out]” must be quoted at time of booking, or at check in, if booked online. The specified discounts are available on Fri/Sat/Sun nights with some additional mid-week availability. Where mid-week discounts are available these will be shown online or notified to customer at time of booking. Bookings must be on an Advance Saver BB basis. Quoted prices per room per night are based on 2 adults sharing a standard twin/double room on a bed and breakfast basis. Bookings for individuals will be charged at the same rate. Up to 2 children under the age of 13 may stay in the room at no extra cost when sharing with up to 2 adults if suitable accommodation is available, at the sole discretion of the hotel if notified at time of booking. A full English breakfast (Except Holiday Inn Express, where breakfast is free) in the hotel restaurant is included in the price for up to two children under 13 years of age when sharing a room with two adults. Breakfast for children aged 13-18 years is full-price. Full payment is required at time of booking and is non-refundable except where prohibited by local laws. Rates are subject to availability at participating hotels. Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Blackout dates (when the offers are not available) may apply in some hotels. Any unused components of an offer (including breakfast) are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed in cash.

Don’t know is it me or something else but when I’m trying to use this link it’s actually more expensive then normal IHG rate..
IC Warsaw cost me 30 extra bucks..

Same here. I’ve tried about 5 properties Belgium & The Netherlands and none of them are cheaper than the normal rate.

Same here, tried several hotels in the UK for the next few weeks but the rate is either more expensive or not available at all.

    • As is always the case, you need to check all the rates. This offer is not always the cheapest. I was not able to pull it for IC Prague but worked for IC Berlin.

The problem is not that the offer is more expensive. The problem is that the offer does not apply to ANY hotel in The Netherlands or Belgium. I just checked almost all of them.
