SPG has a new Twice AS Nice promotion for double Starpoints at participating hotel restaurants between February 1 – April 30, 2014.

spg-twice-as-nice

Note that this offer is only valid when you are not staying at a hotel and requires registration.

You can can access and register for this offer on SPG’s website here.

Remember to check the participating restaurants for this offer. There appears to be 1,531 one of them.

Conclusion

If you are staying at hotel and would like to take advantage of this offers, just settle the F&B bill separately and request the waiter to fill out the SPG slip for proper credit.

You should always take copies of those SPG F&B credit slips, because it seems that they don’t correctly post (don’t post at all) based on my personal experience, although my latest one did without any manual intervention.

Strange to read about this promo only here – no e-mails or posts on the usual site.

Anyway, looking at the restaurant site, I found this discrepancy (CAPS are mine):
“Registered LOCAL members dining with us earn two bonus Starpoints per
eligible dollar spent from February 1 until April 30, 2014.”

What on earth does local mean? And why such a restriction?

    • No idea. I guess that it just means that they are trying to rack up restaurant business from local guests that wouldn’t otherwise patronize these premises.

Thanks for the post! I wish SPG had emailed members about this. I would never have known about it if I weren’t signed up to receive your blog updates.

    • Well. They sometimes email just a small subset of potential members that are eligible.

    Seriously? No LA-area restaurants participating?

    Argh, that’s frustrating.

    • There are very few participating venues in North America.

  • Sebastian

Westin Grande Sukhumvit Bangkok not participating at all.

    • It is bit of an outlier property in many ways.

“On the date of the purchase, the member must not be booked to stay at
the Starwood hotel or resort where the restaurant or bar is located.”
Will settling the F&B bill separately fix this “issue”, as suggested in your post?…

    • Sebastian

Knowing SPG’s IT most likely yes.

      • Would be very difficult if not impossible for SPG to match various transactions, as they wouldn’t be coming in at the same time.
