IHG Rewards Club has started to push harder their Dining Rewards program that is currently available for member accounts with an address in China.

By paying a yearly fee of 2,388 RMB (about $382) you get number of benefits for a 12 month period including a status upgrade to Gold or Platinum and a free night certificate valid at any IHG affiliated hotels worldwide.

This is a free night certificate that is deposited to your account and is valid at all 4,700 IHG hotels worldwide. I would use it at one of the expensive InterContinental hotels in Europe such as the Amstel.

10% off IHG’s Best Flexible, Advance Purchase & Advance Booking

This is valid for stays at participating hotels. Could be useful.

• 25% off IHG’s Best Flexible Rate for accommodation (single-use)

Best flexible rates in China are highly inflated and you are likely to do better by using a discount rate. This is only useful during high occupancy periods when all the discount rates are withdrawn.

• An instant status upgrade in IHG® Rewards Club

This is an interesting offer. Non-status members are upgraded to Gold and Gold members to Platinum. If you happen to be an Ambassador member at the Gold level, this should trigger another Ambassador package that includes the free weekend night voucher (and perhaps the 5K IHG Rewards Club voucher as well.

• An RMB398 e-voucher for dining and beverages at participating restaurants

This is basically just 398 RMB credit that you can use at any of the participating restaurants.

If you can use the free night certificate wisely, it basically pays for the entire program. The status upgrade is nice and can work for someone favor now that it is bit harder to achieve one.

How do I obtain a replacement card if my membership card is lost or stolen?

Your replacement card will take approximately 4 weeks to arrive. Can any of my benefits be transferred to another person, such as my spouse or another family member?

Here are the terms and conditions of this program:

Programme Operator. The IHG® Dining Rewards programme (the “Programme”) is operated by InterContinental Hotels Group (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd, except in mainland China, where it is operated by IHG Shanghai Ltd, both of which are InterContinental Hotels Group companies (collectively “IHG”). The rights and obligations of IHG under the Programme may be assigned or transferred by IHG to any other related or unrelated entity at any time, and performance thereafter shall be the responsibility of that entity.

  1. Programme Benefits. The Programme is designed to give Members access to incremental room and dining benefits to use in participating IHG hotels (“Participating Hotels”) for a fixed annual membership fee subject to the Programme’s terms and conditions. Unless otherwise noted, these benefits apply only at Participating Hotels with Participating Brands, as defined below.

  2. Membership Card. A membership card of the IHG Dining Rewards Programme (the “Membership Card”) will be issued to new Members of the Programme. Use of the Membership Card or any of the other Programme benefits constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. New Membership Cards may be issued from time to time, and the old membership cards will thereafter no longer be accepted for Programme benefits.

  3. Participating Brands and Hotels. IHG Hotel brands currently participating in the Programme include InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, and Holiday Inn Resort®. Brands may be added or deleted, at any time and without notice, at the sole discretion of IHG. A “Participating Hotel” is defined as an IHG hotel that has agreed in writing to accept, honour and recognise the Programme membership cards and the benefits that come with the card as outlined below, for a specified time period. Participating Hotels may be added or deleted from the Programme, at any time and without notice, at IHG’s sole discretion. The list of currently Participating Hotels is available on the Programme website, www.ihg.com/diningrewards.

  4. IHG Rewards Club. As an IHG Rewards Club member, you may also purchase membership in the Programme (the “Membership”). All Members of the Programme are also automatically members of IHG Rewards Club, and therefore subject to all IHG Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions . In the event of a perceived conflict between the IHG Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions and the Programme Membership Terms and Conditions, interpretation shall be at the sole discretion of IHG.

  5. Membership Fee and Term. Membership in the Programme is available to all individuals for a period of one year from the date of issue of the Membership Card or renewal of the Membership (as the case may be), subject to promotional extensions as specifically noted at the time of purchase, upon payment of the annual membership fee, which may vary by market, country, or region and is available on the Programme website www.ihg.com/diningrewards.

  6. Age Requirement. Members must be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in the jurisdiction of their residence, whichever is older.

  7. Not Transferable. Programme membership and benefits are not transferable unless stated otherwise. Any deliberate attempts to allow other individuals to utilize the member’s Programme benefits without the member being present may be considered misconduct and are subject to the Member Misconduct terms described below.

  8. Specific Country. While most benefits of the Programme apply at all Participating Hotels across multiple countries (unless otherwise noted), the member must purchase a country-specific version of the Programme based on the member’s current country of residence and shall pay the specific annual membership fee that applies to that country. Based on the rules and regulations of that country, the membership fee may or not be subject to additional sales taxes or other local taxes. The member must provide a mailing address (to which their membership card and kit will be sent), and if applicable, a billing address, in that specific country.

  9. Elite Status. Upon purchase of the Programme: 1) IHG® Rewards Club members who have not achieved Gold Elite will be automatically upgraded to Gold Elite; and 2) IHG Rewards Club Gold Elite members will be automatically upgraded to Platinum Elite. A non-IHG Rewards Club member who purchases the Programme will automatically be enrolled in IHG Rewards Club and be upgraded to Gold Elite.

  10. Renewal of Membership. Programme members will be invited to renew their membership every year. In order to continue receiving Programme benefits, members must pay a Programme renewal fee every year prior to membership expiration. If Programme Membership is not timely renewed, then at the end of that calendar year, the upgraded IHG Rewards Club Elite Status will revert to the status that the member has achieved, based solely on the IHG Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions. The member will continue earning points when staying in participating IHG® hotels worldwide and enjoying the benefits of membership in IHG Rewards Club.

  11. Cancellation of Purchase and Termination of Membership. Members may cancel their purchase of membership in the Programme by contacting the IHG Dining Rewards Service Centre on 400 830 1220 within twenty-one days of initial purchase, or where required by law within twenty-one days of membership renewal. Cancellation will only be accepted and a refund provided if the member has not utilised any of the member’s single-use benefits, including the Free Night eCertificate, the 25% Off Best Flexible Rate Certificate, and the Dining e-voucher. No refund of any portion of the annual fee is permitted for any other form of termination of Membership. A member may cancel or terminate Membership in the Programme at any time without terminating membership in IHG Rewards Club. Following cancellation or termination of Programme Membership, the upgraded IHG Rewards Club membership status will revert to the membership status that the member has achieved, based solely on the IHG Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions.

  12. Member Misconduct. IHG reserves the right to cancel any Programme membership, revoke any and all unredeemed benefits, and retain all membership fees for reasons that include, but are not limited to: 1) violation of these Terms and Conditions; 2) misrepresentation of any information or any misuse of this Programme; 3) violation of any national, regional or local law or regulation in connection with the use of Membership privileges; 4) failure to pay for hotel or restaurant charges; 5) a cheque to a Participating Hotel that is returned for insufficient funds or is invalid for any reason; 6) commission of fraud or abuse involving any portion of this Programme, including any deliberate attempts to allow other individuals to utilize the member’s Programme benefits without the member being present; 7) more than one active IHG Rewards Club account per member; or 8) physical, verbal, or written abuse of hotel or IHG personnel; 9) termination of Member’s IHG Rewards Club membership for any reason; or 10) action, in any other way, to the detriment of the Programme or any of its alliances; all as may be determined by IHG in its sole discretion.

  13. Lost Cards and Certificates. Please promptly report lost or stolen Cards to the IHG Dining Rewards Service Centre. If the 25% Off Best Flexible Rate certificate is lost or stolen, it cannot be replaced.

  14. Programme Changes and Termination. IHG reserves the right to restrict, suspend, discontinue or terminate the Programme and/or to change, limit, modify or cancel these Membership Terms and Conditions and/or the Programme benefits, conditions of participation, Participating Hotels and restaurant listings in whole or in part at any time with immediate effect by notice posted on the Programme website. A Programme termination notice will be sent and notices of changes in the Programme may periodically be sent as a courtesy, to the last known email address of all currently enrolled Members. Members will be bound by any such changes or termination.

  15. Member Profile. Member is responsible for keeping member’s profile information up-to-date in the Programme and IHG Rewards Club systems, including relevant contact information, such as mailing address and email address. Personal information and communication preferences can be updated at www.ihg.com/diningrewards or by contacting the IHG Dining Rewards Service Centre on 400 830 1220.

    Room Benefits

  16. Free Night eCertificate. For each Membership Term, members will receive one Free Night eCertificate. The Free Night eCertificate is valid for at least 12 months from the date of issue of the Membership Card and is redeemable at any IHG hotel property globally. When a given Membership term expires, the Free Night eCertificate issued during that term will also expire, even if the Member has renewed for an additional term. Renewing members will receive a new eCertificate valid during their new Membership term. The eCertificate is valid for one complimentary standard room night and tax only. The Free Night may only be booked by Programme members by logging on www.ihg.com/diningrewards or by contacting the IHG® Dining Rewards Service Centre on 400 830 1220. Advance reservations required. Rooms are subject to availability. All reservations using the Free Night eCertificate must be guaranteed with a credit card that is valid at the date of the start of the stay, unless otherwise specified. No cancellation charge applies if the reservation is cancelled in accordance with that hotel’s cancellation policy as stated on the reservation confirmation. If the reservation is not timely cancelled in accordance with the hotel’s cancellation policy, members who do not use their reservation (no-show) are subject to a no-show charge for the first night of the reservation, including tax and merchant service fees (if applicable), billed to the credit card used to guarantee the reservation, in the hotel’s discretion. eCertificates are valid only for the member who is a valid member of the Programme and only apply to the member’s personal room. eCertificates may not be transferred, bartered or sold and any attempt to engage in these activities will render the eCertificate void.

  17. On-going Room Discounts. Members have access to special discounted rates that are 10% off of the Best Flexible, Advance Purchase, and Advance Booking room rates available on IHG websites. These discounted rates are available on an on-going basis at Participating Hotels. These special discounted rates may only be booked by logged in members on www.ihg.com/diningrewards or by contacting the IHG® Dining Rewards Service Centre on 400 830 1220. These rates cannot be booked on other IHG websites or on any third-party websites. These discounted rates are applicable seven nights per week, subject to availability, for all room types for which Best Flexible Rate, Advance Purchase Rate and Advance Booking Rate apply. Best Flexible Rate means the lowest publicly-available, unrestricted rate offered on IHG websites. Advance Purchase Rate has restrictions and booking conditions including, but not limited to, a non-refundable pre-payment upon reservation of the total accommodation charges. Advanced Purchase bookings must be made 14 days prior to arrival/check-in date. Advance Booking Rate is available for a minimum of two consecutive nights at participating hotels in Greater China. Guests and members must book 3 full days (72 hours) prior to date of arrival. Advance Booking Rate bookings will enjoy a room rate discount with no pre-payment or credit card information requirements. Full booking restrictions and conditions are available upon reservation at the IHG® Dining Rewards website.

  18. 25% Off Best Flexible Rate Certificate. For each Membership term, Members will receive one Certificate for 25% Off of the Best Flexible Rate (described above), valid for one-time use only at Participating Hotels. This rate may only be booked by logged in members on www.ihg.com/diningrewards or by contacting the IHG® Dining Rewards Service Centre on 400 830 1220. This discounted rate is applicable seven nights per week, subject to availability, for all room types for which the Best Flexible Rate applies. Certificate applies to one room only. Certificate applies to continuous stays of up to seven nights. Members must present and surrender the original certificate provided in their membership kit upon check in. The Certificate is valid for the same time period as the Membership term. Certificates may not be transferred, bartered or sold and any attempt to engage in these activities will render the Certificate void.

  19. The Member must be present and provide their valid Membership Card at the front desk of the hotel at the time of check-in for all stays when utilizing any of the Programme room benefits described above.
    Dining Benefits

  20. 25% Off Dining and Beverage Discount. Members are eligible for a 25% discount that applies to all food and beverage items in participating restaurants and bars on an on-going basis. The Dining & Beverage Discount cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotional offers, including the Cash e-Voucher for Dining benefit described below. The discount is available to groups of up to 16 persons (including the Member). The discount may vary at selected restaurants from time to time. Any exceptions to the discount are shown on the Participating Hotels List at www.ihg.com/diningrewards.

  21. No Discount on Certain Dates. In the discretion of individual Participating Hotels, the Dining & Beverage Discount may not be available during major public holidays including, but not limited to: Chinese New Year, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and selected other regional public holidays. Please check www.ihg.com/diningrewards for further information on exclusion dates for individual hotels and outlets.

  22. Cash e-Voucher for Dining. For each Membership Term, members will have one cash e-voucher pre-loaded onto their Membership Card that can be applied to dining and beverage bills at Participating Hotels in designated countries. The cash e-voucher is valid for the same time period as the Membership term. When a given Membership term expires, the cash e-voucher issued during that term will also expire, even if the Member has renewed for an additional term. Renewing members will receive a new e-voucher valid during their new Membership term. The e-voucher can be used in the country in which the member joined the Programme and its value is designated in a relevant local currency for that country, as indicated in the member’s membership kit and on the Programme website. In addition, the e-voucher may also be eligible to be used in a limited number of additional countries, as specified in the membership kit. The e-voucher cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotional offers, including the 25% Off Dining and Beverage Discount described above. The cash e-voucher cannot be used against accommodation, room service, or any other goods or services purchased in the hotel including but not limited to spa, gift shop, tobacco purchases, health club, parking or sports facilities. The e-voucher can only be used in a single transaction. Any unused portion is forfeited and cannot be refunded or otherwise retained for future use. There is no minimum spend for e-voucher use. The e-voucher has no cash value and cannot be exchanged in part or whole for cash or credit. The e-voucher may not be transferred, bartered or sold and any attempt to engage in these activities will render the e-voucher void.

  23. Participating Hotel Outlets Only. The 25% Off Dining and Beverage Discount and Cash e-Voucher for Dining (collectively, the “Dining Benefits”) are only available at participating restaurants and bars in Participating Hotels. Restaurant and bars that are not managed and operated by IHG or an IHG franchisee will, in most cases, be excluded from the Programme and will not offer these benefits.   24. Membership Card Required. Members must be present and must provide their Membership card when the bill is requested at the Participating Hotel restaurant or bar to receive their Dining Benefits. The benefits can only be applied in the restaurant or bar when the member settles the bill for the dining/beverages (even if the member is a hotel guest and is intending to charge the bill to their room/folio). The Member must indicate at the time they present their Membership card which of their Dining Benefits – e.g. the 25% Off Dining and Beverage Discount, the Cash e-Voucher for Dining, or a Hotel-Specific Benefit – they would like to have applied to the bill. The Dining Benefits cannot be applied retroactively at the front desk or upon check-out.

  25. No Discount on Certain Bookings and Charges. The Dining Benefits are not available on packages inclusive of accommodation and meals or any other special offers. The Dining Benefits are only intended for usage in the participating restaurants and bars, and are not available on room service, tobacco purchases and mini-bar charges, or for conferences, banquets, meetings, exhibitions, or any events held in function rooms at the hotel.

  26. Additional Hotel-Specific Benefits. Additional benefits, specific to individual Participating Hotels, are available for members to view on individual hotel pages within www.ihg.com/diningrewards. Members are advised to check the specific hotel page prior to visiting the hotel to ensure benefit validity. These benefits are redeemed by showing a valid membership card in hotel. Benefits are subject to availability at the individual hotel’s discretion. These benefits are subject to separate terms & conditions as indicated on the individual hotel’s pages on www.ihg.com/diningrewards or in-hotel communications.
    Privacy Policy

  27. Personal Data. Any personal data (including but not limited to Member’s name, mailing address, telephone number and email address) provided by a Member when enrolling in or otherwise provided in connection with Member’s Membership in the Programme will be stored electronically and used for administration of the Programme, guest service, advertising, marketing and communication purposes. Member’s personal data (i) shall be processed by IHG, in its capacity of data controller, by its subsidiaries, affiliates, Participating Hotels including franchised hotels, or third party service providers in connection with administration of the Programme, guest service, advertising, marketing and communication purposes and (ii) may be transferred worldwide between such subsidiaries, affiliates, Participating Hotels including franchised hotels and third party service providers.
