Seems that IHG Rewards Club is finally refreshing all these reactivation offers that they send members that haven’t stayed for a while. Remember to forward me offers that you receive from IHG and other loyalty programs.

This is a new offer that doesn’t conflict with the offers that were released in 2014. Remember that IHG did canceled/froze some member accounts that registered for targeted offers that they hadn’t personally received in 2014.

Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:

Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register member number in advance to participate in this promotion. Bonus points or miles will be awarded after your next qualifying stay, which must be completed in the next 90 days at any InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites®, EVEN™ or Hualuxe® hotel worldwide. A stay is qualified when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. Only one room per member per stay will be awarded the applicable bonus points or miles. No retroactive points or miles will be awarded for stays prior to registration. You must be a miles collector with a preferred alliance in order to collect miles. Frequency/ partner credits may be issued in currencies other than miles. Subject to standard IHG® Rewards Club terms and conditions and earning structure, which can be obtained by visiting www.ihgrewardsclub.com. This exclusive offer valid for original recipient only.

Are IHG Rewards Club still killing “accounts that have registered
for targeted offers that they have not personally received”? Any recent reports or info?

  • Ry Wong

So this comes a question: it seems the system is not able to differentiate between targeted and non-targeted members. And I guess probably the emails are generated automatically too. How can the IHG Rewards Club staff scan and pick those accounts that have registered un-targeted offers?

    • Best question! If we know this…….. but still. is 1500 or 3000 points worth risking closure? of course it depends what you have to loose. and i think those less to loose might get closed sooner and the others not. but its strange. if IHG would know who is targeted they can simply add something to the subscription that they deny it there like other brands.

      • Ry Wong

What IHG doing is really arguable. Now we know how they differentiate between targeted and non-targeted members is just by the same invitation email, with the same promotion code shared among all targeted members. What if the members insisted that they have received such an email (who in IHG can guarantee their automated system have not sent out those emails incorrectly?). So when the members affected file disputes, I do not think IHG has a very strong ground to support their claim, unless they assign a unique promotion code to each of the targeted members, in the way that the code can be traced and cannot be reused, but I bet that would be too much work for the IHG IT dept as obviously we have seen they even cannot handle the Into the Nights transactions well.

the ARROGANCE and incompetence of IHG is staggering…. If they “catch you,” the idea is they may make a few examples out of the unlucky few…. and then count on various shills and outlets on the net to scare vastly more #’s of folks into not signing up for such promos….. I’ve come to resent IHG back office, the “chaos,” the constantly shifting terms & unspecified deals…. happy to “take advantage of them” whenever I can, but “loyalty” now going more to Hyatt & CC….

What about bookings made before the registration, but the stay is going to be after that, so within that given 90 days period?

    • Ry Wong

In case bonus points are credited after your stay, mostly it does not matter when your bookings were made. If your bookings do not require deposit, you can just simply cancel them all and rebook again if you really want to play safe.

Should we sign up? Will they close accounts? What’s your view John?

I think you should add the caveat “Only for Targetted customers” in your post – I’ve signed up by mistake an earlier IHG offer from your site and I’ll be looking at you if they close my IHG account with all of the points I’ve painstakenly collected

“I’ve signed up by mistake for an earlier IHG offer” – did you trip and land on your keyboard?

I received this 3000 pt bonus and the 1500 pt bonus called the New Stay because I had stays this week. Funny how these can post immediately with the regular points from a stay yet you wait weeks for the points to post from the big promotions.
