Hilton HHonors Gold status usually requires 20 stays or 40 nights within a calendar year, although Hilton offers number of fast track opportunities (and status can be had just for having Hilton affiliated credit card in select markets).
The Hilton HHonors Gold is the most worthwhile midlevel statuses among the hotel loyalty programs and comes with room upgrades, complimentary breakfast and club lounge access (guaranteed if on the cub floor). As a matter of fact, there isn’t much of a difference between the Gold and Diamond status.
So, the questions that have often been asked are what stays qualify for MVP Gold Fast Track (paid versus awards) and how long the status is valid for.
A LoyaltyLobby reader sent me a last week an email about his stays:
Stay 1: One paid stay on December 30
Stay 2: Award stay in early January
Stay 3 & 4: Two separate Cash + Points stays in mid January
The status had changed to Gold while the last two stays were still showing as “pending” on his account and valid until March 2017 (basically for 2 years and 2 months).
Even if one has top tier with Hyatt, IHG, Marriott or Starwood, having Gold status with Hilton HHonors is worth having due to number of promotions that they have throughout the year and properties.
I was briefly Gold member last year (before got my account back to Diamond) and saw very little difference on the benefits received at properties. I sometimes received suite upgrades (outside of the US) and had access to the Club lounges (where available).
I am still surprised that they continue giving out this status so easily via credit cards and these continuing fast track offers.
