The four people had had quite a party at the home having a bus and cars pulling up bringing in more than 100 people.

As you can imagine this incident has received quite a bit of media coverage.

Here’s CBC News piece about the incident:

And here’s an excerpt of Calgary Herald’s piece (access the entire story here):

A Calgary couple who rented out their Sage Hill home for a weekend returned home Monday to find it had been the site of what police described as a “drug-induced orgy.”

Mark and Star King thought they were renting their home to four adults who were in town for a family wedding. The Kings had made plans to stay with Mark’s parents and make some extra money renting out their own house. They’d found the potential renter, a man in his 40s, on Airbnb and felt confident that the house would be left in safe hands over the weekend.

But just hours after they handed off the keys on Saturday evening, a two-day party attended by dozens of people began, completely trashing the Kings’ home.

“The neighbours reported a party bus and upwards of one hundred people in our house,” said Mark, standing in his living room amongst piles of trash, food, cigarettes and unidentifiable stains and substances.

Conclusion

You gotta love the “sharing economy”. Once you hand your house keys to strangers anything can happen as this Canadian couple found out the hard way. Probably good idea to know your guests better.
