Air France-KLM Flying Blue Members Earn Miles For Transavia Flights Effective May 12, 2015

Air France-KL Flying Blue members can earn and use miles for Transavia flights effective May 12, 2015.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue Transavia

The airline is a subsidiary of Air France-KLM and operates flights from Netherlands and France to destinations in Europe. It is supposedly a LCC (low-cost carrier).

You can access Flying Blue’s web page for this partnership here.

Note that you don’t earn elite qualifying or status related bonuses for Transavia flights. They do, however, extend the validity of your Flying Blue miles

Here’s the info about the miles that you earn for Transavia flights:

A low-cost airline flying from the Netherlands and France to over 100 European destinations, Transavia gives you new opportunities to earn:

  • Plus fares = 250 Award Miles one way / 500 Award Miles return
  • Max fares = 500 Award Miles one way / 1,000 Award Miles return

Keeping it simple

The amount you earn is fixed, regardless of the distance flown. While Transavia does not provide Level Miles, Elite tier bonuses or Flying Blue privileges, each flight extends the validity of expiring Miles.

You can book award flights with Transavia through their call centre. Use the Miles Finder on transavia.com to check the amount of Miles needed to travel to your destination. Then simply call:

  • 0892 05 88 88 from France (34 cents/min)
  • 0900 0737 from the Netherlands (€1.00/call)
  • +352 27 00 27 28 from elsewhere (standard rate)

Conclusion

It is always good to have more ways to earn miles, although few hundred earned miles would not sway me to direct flights to Transavia that I wouldn’t have taken otherwise.
