SPG and Amex have positively enhanced the benefits of the SPG card by eliminating those nasty foreign transaction fees that used to make the card no go for purchases outside of the United States.

1,000 Bonus Starpoints Promotion

Earn 1,000 bonus Starpoints® for 2 eligible night stays at Starwood hotels and resorts for US SPG® American Express Card Members.

To be eligible for this offer, the Card Member must register at http://www.spgpromos.com/amexuspromo by August 30, 2015, 11:59 p.m. EDT and complete the two (2) eligible night stays between July 30, 2015 and August 30, 2015 (the “promotion period”). Card Member can earn a maximum of 1,000 bonus Starpoints after two (2) eligible night stays during the promotion period, which are not required to be consecutive nights. This promotion is not transferable. Bookings made prior to the promotion period are eligible, but only eligible stays consumed during the promotion period will earn a bonus. This promotion is limited to one per Starwood Preferred Guest® member account number.

An eligible stay is a stay with at least 1 eligible paid night at any of the over 1,200 participating Starwood hotels and resorts paying an eligible paid rate during the promotion period. Eligible nights do not need to be consecutive. An eligible rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest® program. Free Night Awards and Cash & Points Award nights are not eligible toward promotional Starpoints earnings. A listing of SPG-participating hotels and resorts and a description of eligible stays and eligible rates can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions. See Section 1.4 for the complete definition of eligible rates, but note that certain prepaid rooms where the booking is made through a third party (including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com and booking.com) are not eligible rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify toward promotional earnings.

Bonus Starpoints will be credited to the member’s account within 2–4 weeks of the stay posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest® account following the first and second eligible stays.

This promotion may be combined with other Starpoints promotions in market during the same time; however, earnings are exclusive of each other.

Premium In-Room Internet For Basic Card Members only on Starpoints-Eligible Rate reservations at SPG. Exclusions of Starpoints-Eligible Rate reservations might include rooms booked through a group rate as part of an event when the SPG Member does not directly pay the SPG participating hotel for such room; through a tour operator; or through an online travel channel or third-party channel (such as expedia.com, hotwire.com, priceline.com, orbitz.com, booking.com, Travelocity.com, ctrip.com, or elong.com). A full description of Starpoints-Eligible Rates and SPG participating hotels can be found at spg.com/terms. The SPG Member account number must be provided at the time of reservation and/or check-in. Premium Internet access is limited to one room per eligible Card Member per stay regardless of how many rooms have been reserved. No incremental benefit will be provided at SPG participating hotels that offer complimentary in-room Internet access to all guests. The Boingo American Express Preferred Plan Complimentary access to Boingo Wi-Fi is being provided as a benefit to Card Members with eligible Cards. In order to access the benefit, Card Members with eligible Cards must first be authenticated and create a Boingo American Express Preferred Plan (“AXP Plan”) account. Internet access may be required in order to be authenticated and create an account. For questions on eligibility, call the number on the back of your Card. If you submit your American Express Card number to Boingo to verify that your Card is eligible for this benefit, Boingo will send your Card number to American Express. Upon receipt of your Card number from Boingo, American Express will provide confirmation of your Card’s eligibility for the American Express Preferred Plan to Boingo. Boingo will not store or use your Card number for any other purpose. Boingo’s use of this information is subject to its privacy policy.     I read the promo as needing to stay 2 nights during the promo period for the 1,000 Starpoints. The nights do not need to be consecutive, but they can be. The Terms and Conditions uses the odd wording of “2 night stays”. Poor wording from AMEX.

    • You can understand it the both ways.SPG used here words “STAYS” so I would think that it means two.
