VP’s Question about IHG Rewards Club Bonus Points Packages & Qualifying Points

Bonus Points Package (4K points). However, the bonus points did not add to my qualifying points. All info points to it being applicable though!

These bonus points packages are definitely qualifying and even listed as such on the IHG Rewards Club Terms and Conditions (access here). You need to contact customer service to have this issue fixed.

Craig’s Question about Hilton Diamond Fast Track

Just received the offer from Hilton 21 nights in 90 days to fast track to diamond from gold. What is the best way as I am in and out hospital at the moment? Can I use points etc?

All qualifying stays have traditionally been ok for these status fast tracks including points stays. This is a standard offer. I wouldn’t try to take advantage of it before you are ok.

John-Paul Question Regarding Good IC’s For RA Treatment

My wife and I are long-time LL readers and really enjoy everything on the site. We had a quick question for you if you have the time:

I’m an IHG Platinum Royal Ambassador. But due to work keeping us in one place for the last six months, we’re 99% sure we won’t re-qualify in April. We wanted to take one last, fun trip to make the most out of our RA status in February/March and were wondering if you had recommendations on ICs that take the best care of their RAs?

Especially those with club rooms. We’re the type of travelers who like to save our money for travel experiences, rather than food (or shopping). We take advantage of the club room to save money on breakfasts and dinners.

We’ve already been to a bunch of ICs in Europe (Paris, London, Vienna, Berchtesgaden), all of the French Polynesian ICs and bunch at home in the states. We were hoping to try somewhere new and would most likely be flying out of LAX.

Last time when I counted the number of InterContinentals that I had visited, it was around 80. Should be close to 100 now.

I would probably look into Asia. InterContinental hotels in Singapore and Bangkok treat Royal Ambassadors well. I get suite with club access at both of them. They may offer first time guests club room, however. Don’t stay at the Kuala Lumpur location, however, because they only offer RA’s “executive room” (fake room category).

The other option would be InterContinentals in Sao Paulo and Santiago. You will get suite with club access at both.

Not sure if Middle East travel is your cup of tea, but InterContinentals in Bahrain and Muscat were excellent when it came to RA treatment late last year.

Patrick’s Questions About Royal Ambassador Renewal & Royal Ambassador Bonus

I have two questions regarding Royal Ambassador –

1) is the RA bonus (50%) still in place? I stayed recently on intercontinental Beijing and it only gave me the spire elite bonus.

2) My ambassador membership renews every October and I got upgraded to Royal ambassador this January 1st, 2016. I’m wondering when will my Royal ambassador memberships be due for renewal? Will it be on January 1, 2017 or will it be reviewed upon renewal on October?

The Royal Ambassador bonus went away when the Spire status was launched. They both posted together for a while. Also, the Royal Ambassador bonus briefly came back at the end of last year. It posted to one of my InterContinental stays.

The Royal Ambassador renewal will follow your Ambassador membership year. If you renewal is in October, they will start checking your eligibility already in August and may renew automatically at that time.

Richard’s Question About SPG’s Suite Night Awards

If a suite night award comes through, as a Platinum SPG are you still entitled to a room upgrade on arrival I.e. a better suite than those offered through suite night awards?

I don’t see anything on the program Terms & Conditions that would prevent hotels from further upgrading you based on the availability at the time of checking in.

I have strongly criticized these SNAs (Suite Night Awards) because they are only confirmable maximum of five days before your intended stay and the SNA inventory is opaque. Hotels don’t have to dump their standard suite inventory to SNAs, but can release as many or as few they want.

Bruce Question Regarding Inoperable Entertainment System On Virgin Atlantic Upper Class

Question for you…..I was on a Virgin Atlantic full price Upper Class flight from LAX to London and the entertainment system in my seat was inoperable. They provided me an IPAD and credited me 6000 miles for the inconvenience. I was disappointed by the 6000 miles and wondered if you feel it is fair or have any history with Virgin Atlantic regarding this type of matter.

I guess that it partially depends if the iPad that you were given had the same selection of entertainment options as the inoperable system.

I recently had problem with entertainment system on Singapore Airlines CHC-SIN flight and it had to be resetted twice and still didn’t work properly (might be Compensation Clinic case in the coming weeks). I wrote feedback and received 3,000 KrisFlyer miles for the inconvenience.

I am not personally aware what Virgin Atlantic usually gives in a situation such as this. Nothing wrong asking more especially when your ticket was full priced business one.

Conclusion

Keep the emails and messages coming. I will have these READER QUESTION(S) pieces at least once a week (sometimes more often) and try to cover issues that would help LoyaltyLobby readers
