American Airlines Instant Gold & Platinum Status + Fast Track Offer To Keep It Through February 2017

American Airlines has launched new targeted instant Gold or Platinum status until May 31, 2016, and fast track offer to keep it through February 2017 that a LoyaltyLobby reader forwarded to me.

The Gold offer comes with 10 500-miler upgrades and the Platinum with 20. You can use these to upgrade your domestic/short-haul international American Airlines flights.

The Gold offer requires you to earn 7,000 EQMs (Elite Qualifying Miles) between your registration and May 31, 2016, and the Platinum one 12,500.

Note that not only American Airlines flights qualify towards these EQMs but also flights on British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines and Qantas. Also eligible codeshare flights marketed by AA and these partners qualify.

Conclusion

Interesting that American Airlines continues these instant status + fast track offers in 2016 after the US program merger last year.

Theoretically, you could qualify for AA fast track status by taking Qantas marketed Emirates flights (I credited bunch to BA last year).

The Platinum offer is especially attractive. You can almost upgrade the required flights (if you take only AA ones) using the 500-miler upgrade certs.
