When people have emailed me about ways to get the Le Club AccorHotels Platinum status, I have usually mentioned that it comes with American Express Platinum cards in some markets.

American Express has sent out a letter to card members in the UK informing that the Le Club AccorHotels complimentary Platinum benefit will cease to exist on April 15, 2016 (last day to apply).

You can access Le Club AccorHotels page for Platinum benefits here.

Conclusion

It remains to be seen if this benefit is withdrawn from all Amex Platinum cards worldwide or only in the UK. I do believe that the top level status should be reserved for those that stay at their hotels and should not be given out freely.

Le Club AccorHotels Platinum status is not that difficult to get because all the points earned count towards the 25,000 minimum required including bonuses. If you time your stays wisely, you can get Platinum status in five/six stays when Accor has those 10,000 bonus points promotions around (they had several in 2015).
