Hyatt Gold Passport today announced their award category changes for 2016 that will take effect on August 1. There are 50 hotels moving up and few more moving down in the number of points required.
You have until July 31, 2016, to book at the current award levels for properties that move up on August 1. If you have award reservation at properties moving down in award category, you will receive a points refund.

Seems that it would be good time to go visit India if you are planning to burn points. Many of the properties are dropping an award category.
The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is finally moving down to category 3 that is not a surprise considering the rates that the hotel is able to charge in the city. I guess that the high ADR goals didn’t materialize?
Seems that the number of properties moving up compared to down will mostly affect those that redeem in the United States.
