Cathay Pacific has been but of an outlier with its very skimpy checked luggage allowance compared to the ME3 (Emirates, Etihad & Qatar) and Asian rivals. This is now about to change.

Conclusion

Whenever possible, I try to travel just with my carry on luggage. It works well unless the check in desk wants to weight my black 22. It weights around 15 kilos that is fine with airlines such as British Airways but overweight for most others.

Cathay Pacific must have felt commercial pressure here and had to align its checked luggage allowance with major competitors. Those extra baggage charges are usually crazy.
