Hyatt Gold Passport sent out an email today to existing Chase Hyatt VISA cardholders about a new promotion that offers a $50 statement credit after a total of $500 or more spend at US Hyatt Regency hotels between 9/26-12/31/2016.

This promotion is valid for both new and existing reservations as long as the stays are within the promotion period and total qualifying spend at Hyatt Regency hotels on the Hyatt VISA card during this period is at least $500.

You can access and register for this promotion here.

This is the email that I received for the offer earlier today:

The promotion terms say that only customers that received this offer are eligible to participate but when you go to register it asks for your Hyatt VISA card number rather than your Hyatt Gold Passport number so it may be that all cardholders are eligible:

Note that this promotion only covers spending at US-based Hyatt Regency hotels (not other brands like Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, etc.) and also excludes on-property outlets not owned by Hyatt (I take this to mean if you can’t add it to your hotel bill, it doesn’t count).

Conclusion

This is a decent promotion for existing cardholders that were planning to spend a few nights at a Hyatt Regency property anyway during this period.  Personally, I was planning to spend about $300 or so at Hyatt Regency properties before the end of the year; this may entice me to add another night or two to put me over the threshold to get the $50 statement credit.

Here are the terms and conditions for the offer:

Not sure what the attraction here is? Hyatt offers a mere 10% rebate to customers with Hyatt card who stay $500 worth…. (3-5 nights or so) By contrast, you can easily get 10-20% in discounts on the same stays by buying (new) Hyatt gift card (for starters, via regular promos like at Kroger….) and that discount is on the first dollar. You don’t have to wait until you hit $500.

Bottom line: yet another underwhelming Hyatt promo….. (and yes, I just cancelled my Hyatt credit card — precisely for lack of decent promos tied to the card after the first year. These 10% this and that’s just don’t wow us enough)
