Lufthansa Miles & More: 5000 Miles For The First Hotel Booking Through the Miles&More Hotel Portal Until OCT 31st 2016

Lufthansa Miles & More has a new promotion where first time hotel bookings through the Miles&More Hotel Booking portal receive a 5,000 Miles welcome bonus.

mam-hotelsThe prices are largely realistic and depending on the city good deals can be had in combination with the 5000 miles bonus on top of it.

Recently hotel booking portals such as Rocketmiles and Kaligo became quite popular while offering various promotions over the past year or so (LoyaltyLobby has covered especially the great Rocketmiles promotions frequently).

Now Lufthansa Miles & More has a really nice offer live on their website (access here) for customers who book a hotel until October 31st. The actual stay can be in the future and doesn’t have to be completed within that deadline.

  • The website with the promotion is only available in German so let me translate the essential points:
  • Promotional Period for Booking: 21-31st October 2016.
  • Stays do not have to commence within the promotional period
  • Hotels have to be booked at miles-and-more.com/hotels within the promotional period
  • Only one bonus per service card number will be credited and bookings have to be made over the links provided on the Miles & More website
  • Miles will be credited approximately 2 weeks after the completed stay

As coincidence has it, I was looking for a hotel yesterday as I will be in Berlin this week where hotels are pretty cheap in comparison to other cities. To my surprise I found that the rates displayed are in line with actual rates the hotels charge, even though these booking portals normally charge extra to justify the credit of the miles.

Here is an example for the Grand Hyatt Berlin booked via the Miles & More Portal:

Comparing this to the rate offered on the Hyatt website:

gh-berlin-rates

Both rates are exactly the same and already include all taxes. In the case of Hyatt a Diamond Member for example would still receive all elite benefits except the points for the stay itself.

Furthermore if one is just after a cheap night and the booking bonus, in the case of Berlin I found hotels for as low as 69 EUR which is on the very low end for the city. The locations leave a little bit to be desired however, though they weren’t horrible.

Conclusion

This is one of the better offers I’ve seen for a first time booking bonus through hotel portals. It’s especially useful if you need a few extra Miles & More miles to add to your account as Lufthansa eliminated the option to buy miles (which was pretty expensive to begin with) and most promotions such as newspapers are available in Germany only.

Remember this promotion ends on October 31st 2016 and you have to complete your booking until that date while your actual stay can be further in the future.
