Airberlin launched a Topbonus Topdeals (discounted award tickets) campaign three days ago and has now suddenly ended the promotion early.
The airline had a long list of award destinations on sale in economy class starting at just 1,500 Topbonus miles for travel next year until June 2017.
You can access Airberlin’s web page for this sale here.
Airberlin Topbonus now has the following statement available on its website:
Due to a technical error our topdeal tickets are currently not available. The promotion will be repeated shortly. Please visit this website again soon. Thank you for your understanding.
The airline is in turmoil and probably don’t know what routes they are operating next year after offloading 40 planes with crews to fly on Lufthansa’s Eurowings subsidiary, after selling NIKI and getting rid of the leisure routes. Not sure what will be left of this loss making airline after all the restructuring is done.
The Topbonus program is owned by the Etihad (Airberlin sold it earlier to get some cash) so the miles are safe for now.
