Starwood Preferred Guest & Caesars Total Rewards Partnership Ends On December 31, 2016

Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) and Caesars Entertainment Total Rewards started their partnership on January 9, 2014 (read more here).


SPG has not informed their members about the end of this partnership at all but Caesars sent out an email just before Christmas informing total Rewards members about the discontinuance of this partnership effective December 31, 2016.

SPG members were (still are until 31st) able to earn nights (no stays) towards their Gold or Platinum status (max 10 nights per year). These nights didn’t count towards the lifetime requirement, however. Members earn Starpoints for their folio charges at participating Caesars properties in addition to the Total Rewards points.


The Hyatt’s partnership with MGM properties still continues. Not sure if all the SPG employees are already laid off as there have been no communication from Starwood about the state of this Caesars Entertainment partnership.

    Tried earning miles through this partnership and it ended up being the biggest headache ever. Two dozen phone calls over 8 weeks to get my missing 1,250 SPG points. It finally took an executive level escalation to make things right.

    Poor planning, poor execution, and bad training. This partnership couldn’t have ended soon enough. Good riddance!
