Airberlin Topbonus Light Fare

Airberlin has played with the fare groups as of late and the LIGHT fare was excluded earning the segment credit that has been changed effective March 1, 2017.

You can access Airberlin’s website for Topbonus here.

Note that you can earn the Platinum status only by status miles. Silver and Gold status can both be earned based on the number of qualifying flights taken.

Conclusion

Considering that Airberlin’s own route structure is going to shrink considerably due to leasing 38 planes with crews to Lufthansa (read more here) and ditching most of the European leisure routes to NIKI (read more here), not sure how much is soon left of this airline?

The airline has been bleeding financially and there has been discussions reported by the German press that Lufthansa and Etihad may be close to a deal where the German airline would take over Airberlin.

Same mileage chart works for now for NIKI-flights. As far as I know there was no communication so far, that NIKI would stop using Topbonus. As long as NIKI remain with Topbonus, flights with HG-code will count towards status.
