United Airlines has launched a targeted campaign to get select MileagePlus members that reside in the New York-area to fly on United between March 16 – June 25, 2017.
The airline has launched targeted bonus miles offer that is based on the EQD (Elite Qualifying Dollars) that member flies during the period. There can be an offer for bonus PQM’s too (Premier Qualifying Miles).

Of course the irony here is that United Airlines doesn’t even serve the main airport in the New York City that is JFK. They do, however, have a hub in Newark that is in New Jersey. The airline does serve select destinations from LaGuardia.
The airline must feel that it must entice New York-area frequent fliers to choose United Airlines over competitors. Why would they have otherwise launched this targeted offer?
