Hyatt Double Points Starting From Second Stay April 1 – June 30, 2017

Hyatt has launched their first promotion since the “World of Hyatt” loyalty program replaced the previous Gold Passport program earlier this month which is valid for stays between April 1 – June 30, 2017.

Hyatt Double Points April 1 - June 30 2017

Members can earn double points starting with their second stay during the promotional period. Registration is required.

You can access and register for this offer here.

Note that stays at participating M life properties are eligible for the double points.

I still cannot get my head around this “World of Hyatt” branding and the names of the elite levels. Make no sense at all.

This is a rather weak offer for those that don’t stay at $$$$ properties. Hyatt has traditionally had promotions for a fixed number of bonus points based on the number of paid nights during the promotional period.

Here are the terms and conditions of this promotion:

You must be a member of World of Hyatt and register for the promotion between April 1, 2017 and June 30, 2017 to participate. To join World of Hyatt, visit  All Eligible Stays under this promotion must occur from April 1, 2017 through June 30, 2017 (“Offer Period”). You will receive double points for each whole U.S. dollar or U.S. dollar equivalent spent on an Eligible Rate or Eligible Incidental Charges beginning on your second Eligible Stay.  All points awarded under this offer are Bonus Points. For the purpose of this offer, an “Eligible Stay” is defined as any stay where a member is paying an Eligible Rate for at least one night of their stay. Only the room occupied by the Member will count toward this promotion. You must provide your World of Hyatt membership number at the time of check-in and choose points for each stay. World of Hyatt will automatically track Eligible Stays when you provide your World of Hyatt membership number at check in. Please allow two to three weeks after your qualifying stay for Bonus Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account. Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this offer with a suitable substitute offer of equal value (if legally required) at any time due to actual circumstances. This offer is subject to the terms and conditions of the World of Hyatt program. Yawn. Hyatt’s 2016 promos were valuable enough to drive me to give them extra business, but this is a snoozer.

  • Roberto

I perfectly agree with you! This promotion is a bad and poor promotion! I’m Diamond / Globalist member but if the hyatt doesn’t change the type of promotions and increase the number of qualifying night valid for the reneval of the status (double stay) or re introduce a good number of bonus points for night (at least 3.000) they don’t see me anymore!!!! I hope a lot of people will do the same! We will abandon the hyatt chain and will go into a better and more favoreable hotel chain!! The new program is ZERO!!!

    • I always encourage readers to vote with their wallet. That is what I do.

Hyatt has completely destroyed their program and alienated many of their previous loyalists.

I suggest you write a post on migration plans for those who are planning to give up the program

I’m Diamond GP. I had a quick look back through my account – for last year’s promotion over the same period I bagged 30,000 bonus points over 16 night of stays. Using this year’s criteria I would collect only 8,282 points. This year I might have more nights and therefore might reach 10-12,000 but still disappointing.

  • David Crane

Very disappointing. I was kind of expecting a blockbuster promotion to bring those of us on the bubble back into the fold. Amazing: going from the best promotions to the worst. Here’s a new marketing slogan for them – certainly better than what’s been offered so far: “From First to Worst”

    • The downtrend begun when they brought the Jeff Zidell to (mis)manage the loyalty program.

      • Ian MacKenzie

Yes, it all started going south a few year’s ago – they even excluded Diamond members from the bonus scheme for one period (in 2015 ??).

  • YoLaViajera

Agree with previous comments. Totally lame promo. I will not change my upcoming stays just to go with Hyatt. Thus far, World of Hyatt is turning out to be very underwhelming.

Airline and hotel loyalty programs continue to race towards the bottom. This latest Hyatt promotion is far less generous than the past fixed award amounts based on nights. I calculated the difference for the 25 nights I’m staying at Hyatt properties during this promo period as compared to last year’s promotion and the new scheme awards me nearly 40% less points and I stay at $$-$$$ properties. Worse yet, all double points are considered bonus points so they won’t count towards those attempting to reach globalist for life status at one million base points.

I just turned up to Hyatt Regency Sydney which i booked weeks ago to find no room available for me. “apologies sir, i am not going to lie we oversold the hotel”.

Hyatt status no longer means anything either.

I am done with this program

    • What is your current status? Where did they walk you and did they pick up the tab?

      • Mrkane

Explorist (due to Hyatt not honoring their statement to allow qualifying through end of March 2017

Walked me to Novotel Darling Harbor – Yes picked up the tab.

Seems they had a very large group booking that arrived which they prioritized over others

        • Hyatt is actually the only chain that has ever walked me as a top tier elite. Grand Hyatt Atlanta was sold out (too many Priceline customers that cannot be walked) when I was checking in around 1AM. They moved me to Ritz-Carlton.
