Conclusion

World of Hyatt must have felt that they need to offer this Explorist Elite Tier and Globalist Fast Track offers to try get more business travelers to stay at Hyatt properties despite the lack of proper worldwide coverage.

Still this offer makes sense for those that would like to fast track their Globalist status or to get Explorist one if you manage successfully register. It is nice that the status is valid through February 2019!

Hyatt Gold Passport used to offer easy status match offers, but has withdrawn those from the market. I still find these “World of Hyatt” status level names completely and utterly ridiculous. Whoever came up with them, should be fired by Hyatt.

Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:

General Terms: To qualify for this offer, World of Hyatt members must register between April 3, 2017, and September 30, 2017. Offer only valid for World of Hyatt members who are employed by an entity that has received an invitation from Hyatt for its employees to participate in this offer (any a “Qualifying Entity”).  If you are not sure whether you work for a Qualifying Entity, check with your corporate travel manager.  To participate, an eligible member must register with his or her valid email address issued by the Qualifying Entity (e.g., business email) through the dedicated offer-registration URL provided by Hyatt to the applicable Qualifying Entity. (If you need the URL, please ask your corporate travel manager.) Limit one offer per member. To earn credit towards this offer, member must check out of a reservation during his or her Explorist Trial Period or Qualification Period (each defined below), as applicable. If member checks into a reservation during his or her Explorist Trial Period or Qualification Period, but does not check out until after the Explorist Trial Period or Qualification Period has ended, (s)he will not earn credit towards this offer for any nights stayed as part of that reservation. Stays completed by member prior to the start of his or her Explorist Trial Period or Qualification Period will not count towards this offer (even if any night stayed otherwise qualifies as a “Tier-Qualifying Night” for purposes of the World of Hyatt program). Explorist Trial Period and Qualification Period begin at registration and may not be extended. Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this offer at any time without notice. This offer is subject to the complete terms and conditions of the World of Hyatt program, available at worldofhyatt.com/terms.

Explorist Trial:  Upon registration, World of Hyatt members with standard membership or Discoverist status will receive a trial upgrade to Explorist status for 90 days (“Explorist Trial Period”). The trial will provide the member with the benefits of Explorist status, as set forth in the World of Hyatt program terms, provided that the member will not receive any Explorist Club Lounge Access Awards (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms) as part of the trial. To maintain Explorist status through February 2019, member must complete at least ten (10) Tier-Qualifying Nights (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms) at any participating Hyatt hotel or resort worldwide during his or her Explorist Trial Period. If member completes at least twenty (20) Tier-Qualifying Nights at any participating Hyatt hotel or resort worldwide during his or her Explorist Trial Period, member will receive Globalist status through February 2019.  If member earns a new elite status through this offer, his/her new status will be applied within 7 business days of checkout of the stay during which (s)he completes the applicable requirement.

Globalist Quick-Qualify for Current Explorists:  Upon registration, World of Hyatt members with Explorist status will have the opportunity to earn Globalist status through February 2019 by completing at least twenty (20) Tier-Qualifying Nights at any participating Hyatt hotel or resort worldwide within 90 days of registration. (This 90-day period is referred to as the member’s “Qualification Period.”) If member satisfies the above requirements, his/her new status will be applied within 7 business days of checkout of the stay during which (s)he completes the offer requirements.

Don’t bother with WOH , I cut my Globalist card up after experiencing the worst possible customer service .
This new loyalty program is absolutely disingenuous and the benefits are discretionary in favor of Hyatt . I am appalled by the way they treat their most loyal and moved ALL my business to SPG and now realize what I have been missing by supporting Hyatt.

    • I started with the Hyatt years ago but have stayed in the recent past double the nights with SPG compared to Hyatt.

  • Lisa

I wouldn’t bother with the Explorist either. I had the Platinum from having the Hyatt Credit card and was always treated well, with very nice upgrades here and there. Now that it’s changed to Explorist it’s worthless. You may as well not be any type of member. We were at the Hyatt Rancho Mirage after Coachella had cleared out. The place was practically empty and they wouldn’t give us an upgrade for 1 night. We’ve been in many beautiful hotels, without being any type of member, and been upgraded without asking when it’s that empty.

Perhaps Hyatt has realized that business is down because the new requirements to get to Globalist are not worth it?

    • Paul

Yup, they will continue to feel the burn until WOH is changed.

    • this WoH carnage must be the worst ever program “reset”.

I really don’t like how World of Hyatt is making things so complicated now. 1) to qualify you have to be employees of a Qualifying Entity (yet it is totally not clear which companies are part of the promotion). 2) It mentioned you can fast track to Explorist or Globlist (if you are already an Explorist), but it did not mention if you can still participate if you are a current Globalist. I don’t think Hyatt allows current Globalist to qual on 20 nights, 3) You must check-in and check-out during the extact 90 days promotion period and stay there for 20 nights. 4) There are no mention if you get the 2 free nights (that comes with hitting 30 nights and 60 nights as the normal Explorist or Globlist tier (I bet they don’t give to you).

Anyway, why is the World of Hyatt is so complicated when compare to GoldPassport? It just seems that Hyatt is trying to play a lot of tricks…

The (4) suite upgrade certificates, & the (2) free-nights are not by-products of Status tiers, but rather by-products of completing the 30 and 60-night thresholds. Therefore, if you were to achieve Globalist by means of this ‘Qualifying Entity’ promotion, you won’t receive the suite upgrade certificates or free nights (unless & until you hit those thresholds before the end of the calendar year).

    Hi John, 2 questions:
    (1) would you know if this ‘challenge’ would be open to FIT’s not affiliated with these qualified companies? and
    (2) on 7 Apr, “View from the Wing/Boarding Area” wrote WOH was beginning to accept Explorist & Globalist ‘challenges’ but if you achieve Globalist via challenge/fast track, you do not receive the 4 confirmed suite upgrade eCertificates? Would you know if this is also applicable should I be accepted on this challenge? even if I am not part of these qualified companies?
Thank you John, you have the most informative blog of its kind.

    • Well. As long as you get signed up for this offer. Perhaps you have a friend working for one of the eligible companies whose email address you could use for sign up. Yes. You only receive the suite upgrades once you have put in the number of nights required.

      • HBG

        Tnx John.

Anyone has an valid (general) comapny email address? Will come in very handy with upcoming travels!

    • law

You need to verify an email sent to the company email address

      • I guess that the point here is that they only send the verification via the email. I guess that tho whomever the email belongs to doesn’t matter as long as they click the registration link.

” I still find these “World of Hyatt” status level names completely and utterly ridiculous.”
Same goes for their iOS app icon / logo.

Thank you for contacting World of Hyatt.

I would like to inform you that this elite tier offer available only to select companies. You may contact your Company Travel Manager for details.

Please let me know if you should need any other assistance.

    Best Regards,

    • You can try you company email address on the Hyatt’s form to see if it is accepted.

I agree about ditching Hyatt. I’ve been Diamond for years but not sure if it’s worth it considering their small footprint. I’m 100 nights away from lifetime Starwood Platinum status and feel like I should put all of my future travel towards them vs. Hyatt because of the Starwood/Marriott merger and the uncertainty with it. I really don’t like the new World of Hyatt…especially the logo and branding! It feels so cheap and unprofessional. Also, I feel like they’re trying too hard with the names…trying to be cool when they come off as so uncool.

    • There is no clear connection with the names. Explorist, Globalist etc. I think that they should do relaunch….

The T&C says Current Discovist can Qualify for Globalist unit Feb 2019 by complete 20 nights in 90 days, but it does not say current Globalist can extend from Feb 2018 to Feb 2019 by complete 20 nights in 90 days. I call Hyatt they won’t confirm in writing
