Hyatt Credit Card: 10% Discount (via Points Refund) On World Of Hyatt Redemptions Between 6/1/2017 and 9/5/2017

Cardholders of the Hyatt Visa Credit Card issued by Chase in the U.S. have the opportunity to participate in a new promotion to receive 10% points back on their redemptions between 1st June – 5th September 2017.

Registered cardholders will receive 10% Bonus Points back on the World of Hyatt points redeemed for award stays, points + cash, suite upgrades, dining and spa services.

There have been similar promotions previously and it can be worthwhile for World of Hyatt members who currently have the credit card or are considering signing up for it.

You can sign up for the new World of Hyatt 10% Discount Promotion for Hyatt Credit Card Members here.

Here is how it works:

1.  Register for this cardmember-only promotion by June 30, 2017.

2.  Redeem your points for free nights, Points + Cash stays or toward room upgrades, dining and spa services completed between June 1 and September 5, 2017.

3.  You’ll get 10% of your redeemed points back as Bonus Points. They’ll automatically be deposited into your World of Hyatt account after your points have been used.

The points discount will be refunded 6-8 weeks after the stay so it’s not an immediate discount which means you need to have the entire amount of points in your account at the time you want to redeem.

How can I maximize this promotion?

Eligible members just have to book and stay during the promotional period.

It does make sense however to cancel and rebook existing award bookings for the specified period in order to receive the 10% award points back.

Just like it could be beneficial to transfer points to an eligible Hyatt credit card member in order to make large redemptions, especially if the credit card member is a Globalist who can make use of the Guest of Honor benefit for full a points redemption (always makes sense to do this if the member traveling has no status himself).

Does it make sense to get the Hyatt Credit Card just for this promotion?

The Hyatt Credit Card issued by Chase is a decent Visa Signature product with only $75 annual fee and two free nights at any Hyatt as welcome bonus with only $2000 minimum spend. You can get a $50 statement credit if you apply through the Hyatt Website at the end of a reservation process which is not available through the Chase website itself. You get one free night at a Cat 1-4 Hyatt annually which more than pays for the $75 fee. Important is also that the Hyatt Visa card is not subject to Chase’s infamous 5/24 rule so you won’t blow a valuable application with this.

In other words: It doesn’t hurt to get the card based on the frequent promotions limited to card members and the low annual fee which is compensated by the annual free night. The low tier Discoverist elite status that comes with the card isn’t noteworthy in my opinion.

Conclusion

10% discount isn’t exactly a lot but better than nothing and if you already have the Hyatt Credit Card then why not take the extra points and sign up for this.

You can also take advantage of this promotion with the transfer option outlined in case you want to help a friend out who doesn’t have the credit card or isn’t eligible for it in the first place due to not residing in the U.S. or lacking the credit requirements.
