Alaska Airlines and Finnair have formalized a frequent flier partnership that took effect on May 21, 2017.

Members of Finnair Plus can both earn and redeem their points on Alaska Airlines flights. Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can earn miles on Finnair flights and redeeming miles on Finnair will come in the fall of 2017.

You can access Alaska page for Finnair here and Finnair’s page for partners here.

Conclusion

Finnair only serves New York year round from Helsinki and flies to Miami, Chicago, and San Francisco seasonally. The airline also used to fly to Toronto.

Seems that Finnair’s goal here is (like most of Alaska’s partners) to tap Alaska’s network to feed their US flights. It is truly remarkable how many partner airlines Alaska’s Mileage Plan has and how generous the earnings for Finnair’s business class are.

My only wish would be that Alaska would have proper worldwide award chart that would allow mixed partner awards (not allowed at the moment).
