Thai Airways is currently giving Mastercard cardholders a 10 % discount on round trip tickets originating in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur or Penang).

This offer is valid for tickets purchased on/before 31 AUG 2017, and for outbound sectors used on/before that same date. Tickets on this offer have a 12 months validity and penalties for changes/cancellations varies depending on the fare booked. The offer also allows for stopovers in Bangkok.

  • Ticket Validity: 12 months
  • Mileage Accrual:
    • Booking class V or W: 25% of actual miles flown
    • Booking class T, K: 75% of actual miles flown
    • Booking class Y, B, M, H, Q: 100% of actual miles flown
    • Booking class U: 110% of actual miles flown
    • Booking class C, D, J: 125% of actual miles flown
    • Booking class F, A, P: 150% of actual miles flown
  • Child Ticket: Charge 75% of the fare
  • Infant Ticket:
    • Infant under 2 years with seat (child) – Charge 75% of the fare
    • Infant under 2 years without seat – Charge 25% of the fare

Before and after departure:

  1. Change flight and/ or date on outbound sector from original booking to earlier departure;
  • F / A / P / C / D / J / U / Y / B class : For change reservation and ticket must be reissuance free of charge /same RBD / same Seasonality and additional fare/taxes/ surcharges collection if different RBD , different Seasonality and changing expiry date of ticket.                            
  • M / H / Q / T/ K class : For change reservation and ticket must be reissuance with a charge  of MYR100 per transaction/same RBD / same Seasonality and additional fare/taxes/ surcharges  collection  if  different  RBD ,different Seasonality and changing expiry date of ticket.                
  • V / W class: For change, reservation and ticket must be reissuance with a charge of MYR300 per transaction/same RBD / same Seasonality and additional fare/taxes/ surcharges collection if different RBD, different Seasonality and changing expiry date of ticket.
  1. Change flight and/ or date on outbound sector within ticket validity: Permitted (revalidation applied/ same RBD/ same Seasonality and same Expire date of ticket.)
  • F / A / P / C / D / J / U / Y / B class : Ticket must be revalidate free of charge/ and additional fare/ taxes/ surcharge collection if different RBD, different seasonality and changing expiry date of ticket
  • M / H / Q / T/ K class : Ticket must be revalidate with a charge MYR100 per transaction/ additional fare / taxes/ surcharges  collection  if  different  RBD ,different Seasonality and changing expiry date of ticket.
  • V / W class: Ticket must be revalidate with a charge MYR300 per transaction/ additional fare/ taxes/ surcharge collection if different RBD, different Seasonality and changing expiry date of ticket.
  1. Change return and or date after departure;
  • Permitted within ticket validity free of charge and revalidation applied/ same RBD except for RBD V/ W revalidation of MYR100 is applied.
  1. Reroute;
  • F/ A/ P/ C/ D/ J/ U/ Y/ B – Permitted with same zone: Ticket must be reissued collect additional fare/ taxes/ surcharge (if any) with free of charge
  • M/ H/ Q/ T/ K – Permitted with same zone: Ticket must be reissued collect additional fare/ taxes/ surcharge (if any) with a charge of MYR100 per transaction.
  • V/ W – Permitted with same zone: Ticket must be reissued collect additional fare/ taxes/ surcharges (if any) with a charge of MYR300 per transaction
  1. Change to higher fares/ higher RBD
  • F/ A/ P/ C/ D/ J/ U/ Y/ B: ticket must be reissued collect additional fare*/ taxes/ surcharge with free of charge
  • M/ H/ Q/ T/ K: ticket must be reissued collect additional fare*/ taxes/ surcharge with a charge of MYR100 per transaction.
  • V/ W: Ticket must be reissued collect additional fare*/ taxes/ surcharge with a charge of MYR300 per transaction
  1. Refund / Cancellation
  • Totally Unused Ticket : Permitted with fee MYR300
  • Partially Used Ticket : deducting one way fare of the same RBD without fee except RBD V/W non-refundable

Conclusion

KUL is usually a good origin point when looking for good business class fares ex-South East Asia. Adding a 10% discount to the usual good prices leave us with some very good prices!
