Today’s No Frills of the Day goes to WOW air, Iceland’s second largest airline, and their summer sale fares between the United States and several destinations in Europe.

You can access WOW air website here.

WOW air is offering some deeply discounted fares (from USD 89,99 taxes and surcharges included)  for one way tickets from Chicago/Miami/Los Angeles/San Francisco/Washington DC to several destinations in Europe (as Berlin, Dublin or London, for example). Here are some examples of possible city pairs for July 2017:

Here are some examples of bookable tickets:

The return tickets (Europe to USA) are not cheap at all:

Please notice that this fare corresponds to WOW Basic products, a bare-bones fare that only includes a small personal item (that fits under the seat in front of you) of up to 10 kg/22 lb. No carry-on/checked luggage/seat selection/food on board included in this price.

Aditional fees depend on the route. Here are, for example, the aditional fees for SFO-KEF-LGW: Changes for USD 91, carry-on luggage for USD 50, one piece of checked luggage (20 kg/44 lb.) for USD 70, seat assignment from USD 7 (per leg), priority boarding for USD 15 and so on…

Conclusion

Dirty cheap one way tickets for the summer. Ideal if you can book your return on miles or if you need a positioning flight to start an award ex-europe. The mandatory transfer in KEFcan help making the whole trip more bearable as it breaks it into two shorter segments.

They would be quite interesting as a positioning flight for one of the numerous attractive mileage runs ex-Europe that pop up all the time. Surprising that they let you book those fares as a one way as well and not requiring the round trip journey.
