Very Low Delta VDB Compensation Bid Choices For International Flights

When an airline has sold more seats to the flight that it can accommodate, they usually first source VDB (voluntarily denied boarding) volunteers for airline credits. If they don’t get enough VDB’s, then the airline can IDB (involuntarily denied boarding) some passengers that are usually eligible for cash compensation.

Delta has a function on their website, where they solicit VDB’s on flights that have been oversold. You can make your bid what would be your the lowest amount that you would be willing to give your seat on that specific flight.

How Is SPG & Delta Crossover Rewards Doing?

Delta and Starwood announced their Crossover Rewards back in February (read my post here) that I broke couple of days earlier after getting hold of the terms and conditions of the program.

The program gives Delta elites some benefits on Starwood hotel stays and vice versa. The only benefit that I will see from this program is some Starpoints for Delta flights and some SkyMiles for Starwood room rate spend.

When this announcement was done back in December, it was expected that the airline would also shortly join the SkyTeam alliance. You can read more about this on Bloomberg article that you can access here.

Delta’s Policy Change About Death & SkyMiles

Delta representative made a post yesterday on FlyerTalk that they had updated the SkyMiles member guide and that there had been a change of policy about death & SkyMiles. Unfortunately, he didn’t elaborate this further.

Until now, Delta had allowed transfer of SkyMiles upon death by filling out an affidavit and sending it to Delta.

Alaska Partner Oneway Awards Now Bookable Online (AA Only) & Mixed Carrier Itineraries

One-way partner awards have been coming to Alaska already for some time and now American Airlines ones are bookable online.

Both American and Delta awards are online for one-way travel, but booking Delta makes no sense, as you are charged for return travel anyway.

Get Your 6 to 12 Months Regus Businessworld Gold Membership For Free

Just last week, I visited one of the Regus locations in Bangkok and wrote a piece about it that you can access here. Regus offers temporarily office space in 95 countries and has more than 1500 locations. I have received Regus Businessworld Gold offer few times for being an elite member with airline frequent flier program, but that is not a requirement to get this access for free, however.

I just used Google and searched the airlines that offer complimentary Businessworld Gold membership for their frequent fliers. You can get 6 months free membership via Enrich (not even required to join the program) and 12 months free via Lufthansa’s Miles & More (need membership number).

SPG & Delta Crossover Rewards Registration Now Open

When I tried to link my accounts on SPG’s website, I got the following error message quite a few times.

Westin Heavenly In-Flight Bedding Coming To Delta’s BusinessElite

Delta and Starwood are announcing later today their partnership of bringing Westin Heavenly In-Flight Bedding to BusinessElite flights starting this summer. There was interesting article on NY Times about this that you can access here.

This is likely part of the greater partnership between Starwood and Delta that started with the Crossover Rewards announcement earlier this month. I first broke the story about this new type of partnership with Delta and Starwood on February 5. You can read more about Crossover Rewards here that is starting on March 1.
