This weeks Compensation Clinic is about a recent rental I had at Hertz Duesseldorf Airport where I reserved an Intermediate Vehicle and was first ‘upgraded’ to a family minivan and later to a damaged Ford Mondeo.

While specific car models are never guaranteed, the respective car class is and to receive an ‘upgrade’ to a family minivan (Ford Galaxy) wasn’t exactly what I had in mind for my 3 day rental. [click to continue…]

The City of San Francisco has filed a lawsuit against rental car company Hertz due service charges the company adds on to bridge tolls and then automatically charges the customer.

Customers have no directly visible option to opt out of the system provided by Hertz and the associated service fees, even if they want to use their own bridge toll devices. [click to continue…]

This week I rented a car from Hertz at Los Angeles International Airport where I had close to 100 rentals over the years and I was a bit shocked how much Hertz has tweaked their upgrade rules for top tiers.

Hertz PCIt used to be that as a Presidents Circle who reserves a Full Size Car you would occasionally get something nice or at least the best Full Size car in the lot. No more. [click to continue…]
