Just now, Hertz sent an email to it’s Hertz Club Gold members that effective 15th of July 2015 for all rentals in the United States and Canada customers will be required to produce a refueling receipt if they drive 75 miles or less with their rental car. If a receipt can not be presented a 13.99$ charge will be applied to the car rental total. You can access the web version of this email here.


I can just assume that this change is being introduced because there are increasing occurrences of customers returning their rental car without refueling it for the last xx amount of miles in the best case.

Hertz has extended the promotion for 5000 Marriott Rewards points per rental of five days or longer. Shorter rentals of more than two days are eligible for 2000 Marriott Rewards points. This offer is valid for pick up through February 28, 2014, at participating Hertz locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Puerto Rico, Australia and the New Zealand.


These car rental promotions are often tricky. I normally rent from Hertz using rates that are only eligible for points on Hertz’s own rewards program and not eligible for partner miles or points. [click to continue…]

Hertz has a promotion for Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards members. You can earn up to 1,800 bonus points in addition to the usual base points of 600 per qualifying rental.


You won’t receive bonus points for rentals of two days or less. You will receive total of 1,200 points (600 base + 600 bonus) for rentals of three to six days and 2,400 points (600 base + 1,800 bonus) for rentals of seven days or longer. [click to continue…]
