Iceland has been on the press a lot lately partially due to WOW a low cost airline that offers cheap flights between North America and Europe plus offering a complimentary stopover in Reykjavik (you obviously pay for the hotel).

Hilton Honors made an announcement about changes to the program taking effect during 2017 late last month (read more here) and one of the changes was due to happen at the end of February (date was not announced at the time).

Hilton Honors Points & Money Update

A Hilton Honors spokesperson just dropped an email indicating that the changes to the awards will take place starting on February 28 and should be finished on March 1. All award categories will be gone and members are able to mix and match Points & Money in all reservations. [click to continue…]

Hilton Honors has generous Gold & Diamond status match program that grants status first for 90 days during which the member must complete set number of stays to extend the status through March 2019.

Hilton is about to lose one of its few Nordic properties to Clarion (Nordic Choice) come April 1, 2017, when Hilton Copenhagen airport is exciting the chain.

Starwood lost the Kamp in Helsinki and the Le Meridien hotel in Copenhagen few years back. There is only one Hilton in Sweden and now none in Denmark or Norway but two in Iceland.
