LEVEL, the new long-haul low cost carrier established by International Airlines Group (IAG) we talked about before, is about to take off on their inaugural flight next June 1st from Barcelona to Los Angeles, and tickets are selling at a good pace.

Being myself based in Barcelona and having a long holiday weekend around the dates of the inaugural flight means that I have the rare opportunity be in an airline’s first service and write about it. John liked the idea so I went ahead and booked me on their very first flight.

IAG (parent of British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus & Vueling) today announced the name for its’ new Barcelona base low cost airline that will be called Level.

The new airline will initially fly to four destinations (Los Angeles, Oakland, Buenos Aires & Punta Cana) from Barcelona. The airline plans to offer services from other European cities as well. The two new Airbus A330 will be be manned by Iberia cabin and cockpit crew. [click to continue…]

IAG is wary of Norwegian that is starting to fly certain long-haul destination out from Barcelona in the Summer of 2017. The city is the base for IAG’s Spanish Vueling subsidiary.


To counteract this Norwegian’s expansion, IAG the parent of British Airways, Iberia, Vueling and Aer Lingus is now starting new long-haul low cost operation from the same city and hoping to offer short-haul transfer connectivity via Vueling. [click to continue…]
