We received a Reader Question yesterday asking about options to match British Airways Gold to any Star Alliance Gold status without having to fly in order to qualify for the status.

Status matches has gotten more tight in recent years unless there was a big promotion like Sky Team’s Alitalia that tried to acquire customers en masse and pretty much gave top tier to almost everyone applying. [click to continue…]

There hasn’t been much good news out of Turkey as of late and, as a result, the national flag carrier is bleeding as well.

Bombings around Turkey and the most recent coup attempt have lead to fewer tourists and less traffic for Turkish Airlines. The airline posted a $647M USD loss for the first six months of the current fiscal year. On 2015 the airline posted $406M USD profit for the same period. [click to continue…]

Just two days after placing a ban on all flights coming from Turkey the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has lifted it again, giving the ‘all clear’ to passengers and airlines.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in reaction to the attempted Coup d’Etat in Turkey yesterday, has prohibited all airlines regardless of registration to operate flights ex Turkey to the U.S.

This ban is valid for all airliners regardless of registration and also includes flights that would fly via a third country and effectively halts all Turkish Airlines flights to their nine U.S. destinations until further notice. [click to continue…]
