Emirates Will Take Delivery Of Their 100th Airbus A380 Aircraft On 3rd November 2017 – Eighty Million Passengers since 2008!

Emirates is celebrating big things this coming months as the carrier will take delivery of their 100th Airbus A380 in the first week of November (November 3rd is currently scheduled).

While other carriers starting to ditch the A380, Emirates will continue to rely on the mega airliner to support their hub traffic and went through some improvements for the recent version.

Emirates today announced the first Flydubai codeshare destinations and benefits that fliers (both elite and non-elites) receive on these flights.

Emirates and Flydubai, both owned by the Emirati government, announced during the summer (read more here) that they would begin deeper co-operation in the form of codeshares, schedules, and network optimization.

Emirates might have just narrowly scraped by a disaster when one of their Airbus A380 en route to Moscow was about to ‘land’ (crash really) 8 miles from Domodedovo (DME) Airport in Russia’s capital.

The pilots noticed there was something wrong in the last minute and pulled at flight back up when they were only 120 meters above ground.

Financial Times run an interesting piece earlier this week that is worth a read for those that fly on any of the ME3 (Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways).

For the first time, the ME3 are projected to grow in low single digits this year and Qatar capacity wil actually decrease due to the blockage.

Qantas few years ago decided to drop all of their other European destinations besides London and serve it via one-stop service via Dubai instead of the usual Asian gateways cities after signing a deal with Emirates.

Today, the airline announced that it would again route one of the services QF1/2 Sydney to London via Singapore and also extend the partnership with Emirates by five years. The airline will also start direct Perth to London service next year.

Emirates Seat Selection Fee Changes?

Emirates has been sending out emails this week about informing its Skywards members about changes implemented to economy seating based on “extensive customer feedback”.

I would assume that this means that there are fewer options for free seats (seems that all the seats are now pay only before check in for those without status) and Skywards elite members are not exempt of these fees either even at the Platinum level.

A passenger caught a flight attendant on video filling champagne from a glass back into the bottle and uploaded it on social media.

There are extensive reports coming from Emirates passengers who were forced to pay a high fee or leave baggage/duty items behind after the airline now weighs carry on baggage in transit.

Emirates allows a 10KG carry on baggage but also counts duty free purchases into this allowance which leads in many cases to the limit being easily exceeded.

An internal email of Emirates Airlines was leaked to the public where the Uniforms Division instructs all Taiwanese crew members to take off their Taiwanese Flag pin and replace it with the Mainland China pin.

Even though the Emirates manager who sent out the email has back paddled and apologized over the email after an outrage of affected crew members, this matter caused quite a ruckus.
