Marriott Rewards has launched the Elite Buy Back Offer for 2017 membership year that allows Silver, Gold or Platinum member to buy back using points status they had in 2016 (in case they didn’t qualify)

Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) has had a promotion for Gold status requiring one stays and paying using World Elite MasterCard for several years and I would expect this promotion to be on its last leg.

As the end of the year approaches, we wanted to summarize the rules in most of the major hotel loyalty programs when it comes to purchasing points to use for award stays as well as talk about when it may make sense to buy points for each program.
