Considering that the Marriott purchase of Starwood is about to close (expected before the end of this month), I thought that it would be time to revisit the Silver, Gold and Platinum lifetime status requirements.

Marriott Rewards has had published lifetime program for a long time that they tweaked couple of years ago. Hilton recently introduced theirs (read more here). A casting agency dropped us a message earlier today about future Marriott commercial celebrating positive experiences that Marriott, Ritz-Carlton and SPG members have had at their properties.

There was very unfortunate incident last week when medical patient wearing traditional UAE clothing was thought to be an ISIS fighter by front desk clerk at Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott in Avon, Ohio.

The clerk had texted her sister and father that in turn had contacted the police claiming that the UAE man had pledged an alliance to ISIS. Soon the Emirate found himself restrained by the police and collapsed after being released. [click to continue…]

Earlier in the week the European Commission cleared the purchase of Starwood by Marriott in the grounds that it doesn’t affect the competition landscape in the European Union.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, LLC (a subsidiary of Marriott International, Inc.)

Seems that the deal that was expected to close sometime in July will as a matter of fact close earlier than many of us thought. The Starwood already lists itself as a subsidiary of Marriott International on some program T&Cs that are dated to July 6, 2016. [click to continue…]
