British Airways (part of IAG that is 20% owned by Qatar Airways) has entered into a Joint Business Agreement (surprise!) with Qatar Airways.


The airlines will codeshare all flights between UK & Doha. British Airways will place its code on flights operated Qatar Airways to destinations in Africa, Middle East and Asia that the airline doesn’t serve. Qatar Airways in turn will place its code on BA operated flights to destinations in the UK and Europe (majority of which it doesn’t fly directly from Doha). [click to continue…]

The Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has announced that they will soon offer a complimentary tourist visa for travelers of all nationalities valid for up to four days, issued upon arrival in Doha.


So far most travelers who wish to stay in Qatar even for a limited amount of time have to purchase a visa on arrival that costs a significant amount of money unless one is eligible for the Qatar Airways Stopover package. [click to continue…]

Qatar Airways announced second airline share purchase this week. Taking 10% stake on Latam Airlines (read more here) was not enough. The airline decided to purchase 49% of Meridiana. Both deals are still pending.

Qatar Airways is on a buying spree and made an announcement today at the Farnborough Air Show in the UK that it would acquire a 10% stake in Latam Airlines, which was created with the merger of Lan (Chile) and TAM (Brazil).
