Year End Holiday Bonuses Are Back For Buying Marriott Gift Cards

by John Ollila

Reading Time: 5 mins read

Every year during the yearend holiday period Marriott has been running promotions for buying Marriott branded gift cards. Normally you have few choices like extra Marriott points for purchases, 10% discounts of the face value, or 10% more on the gift card that you can buy at original face value. This year is no different.

All these Marriott gift card purchases earn 5 Marriott Rewards points per dollar charged when paid using Marriott Rewards Visa credit card. Also, you can earn cash back for purchasing these through online cash back websites. Currently Ebates is offering 1%, Fatwallet 2.5%, and BigCrumbs 4% for buying these by first linking to Marriott through their websites. Please refer each of the respective websites for more information about the cash back rates that may change.

Currently there are three promotions going on.

1. Marriott Friends and Family promotion. Get extra 10% loaded to a gift card. You can buy unlimited number of cards. For example when you buy a $1000 gift card it will come at $1100 value. You just need to input MMF to the promotional code field when making the purchase. This promotion is valid until January 8th. https://gifts.marriott.com/generic_content.aspx?orphan_id=7982fb9b-6901-4fc2-be46-3a9616caf18c

You must enter the MMF promotion code to have the 10% bonus added to the value of the GiftCard you purchased. The 10% bonus will be reflected on the card amount once received. This is a limited time, limited inventory offer. Shipping and handling fees apply. $1 shipping option available to U.S. addresses only. For Marriott Gift Card Terms and Conditions, visit gifts.marriott.com

2. Get 10 Marriott Rewards points for every dollar loaded into a card. This is straightforward. If you buy a $1000 gift card, you will receive 10000 Marriott Rewards bonus points. The maximum number of points one can earn from this promotion is 25000. This promotion is valid until January 8th, 2012. Gifts For Them, Points For You Terms and Conditions

Marriott Rewards members earn 10 points per dollar for each GiftCard purchase made online at gifts.marriott.com and by entering their valid Marriott Rewards number. A maximum of 25,000 Marriott Rewards points* may be earned per member. Points will be posted to your Marriott Rewards account within six weeks after the promotion ends on January 8, 2012. Shipping and handling fees apply. $1 shipping option available to U.S. addresses only. For Marriott Rewards Terms and Conditions, visit marriottrewards.com. 3. Get 10% off and 1000 Delta SkyMiles for each $1000 Marriott VacationCard purchased. You pay $900 for $1000 Marriott VacationCard, and also earn 1000 Delta SkyMiles in the process. You can earn up to 10000 Delta SkyMiles. This offer is valid through January 1st, 2012. These VacationCards work at all the same properties as regular gift cards.

The only unknown about these VacationCards are some recent changes in the Terms and conditions of their use. They do work at all Marriott properties. The most recent terms and conditions indicate that these could be used only at non-discounted/commissionable rates, and that one would not earn Marriott Rewards points in the process. Quite likely these terms are NOT enforced at this time but they might be sometime in the future.

The link for this offer is at https://www.marriottvacationcardoffer.com/delta. The full terms and conditions can be found here https://www.marriottvacationcardoffer.com/terms.aspx?source=delta.

Receive 10% off when you purchase a $1,000 or $2,000 Marriott VacationCard. No limit on card purchases. Shipping and handling fees apply. The Marriott VacationCard can be used for all purchases and services charged to a Marriott guest room folio. If you are not a registered hotel guest and are planning to use this card at a spa, restaurant, retail store, or other outlet, please confirm in advance that the Marriott VacationCard is accepted. VacationCards cannot be used to guarantee a room reservation, but may be used as payment at check-out.

1,000 bonus miles will be credited for each $1,000 VacationCard purchase and 2,000 bonus miles will be credited for every $2,000 VacationCard purchase – up to a maximum of 10,000 bonus miles. Bonus miles will be posted on the VacationCard purchasers Delta Skymiles statement within 4-6 weeks after their purchase. All Delta SkyMiles program rules apply. To review the rules, please visit delta.com/skymiles Offer is not transferable. Offer subject to change without notice. Offer valid through January 1, 2012.

This is an exclusive Marriott Offer. For customer service support, please email gcia.reimbursement@marriott.com.
