The discount if for stays between August 1st to September 30th, 2012. The booking window is open already, however. The list of participating hotels is not as great as last time. There might be some hotels that are participating for this sale, but that are not on the list that Club Carlson put up on their website. Using the 50REDEEM promotional code, when searching for the hotel, will bring up all the participating hotels for the city, if any.
Decided to check the availability of this offer at three hotels; Radisson Blu Baku, Radisson Blu Addis Ababa, and Radisson Blu Budapest.
I have always wanted to visit Azerbaijan and the 50% discount offer came up without a hitch. The paid rates tend to be on the high side for all the hotels that I have ever looked at for the Baku.
Addis Ababa is an interesting city. I have transited through couple of times and have entertained an idea of a short stopover of a day or two to check the city out. The discount rate showed up here too.
Budapest is a wonderful city to visit and I have been there couple of times. The hotels in the city tend to be rather competitive prices and I have never used points here. The 14K Club Carlson points per night is not a bad offer, but the paid rates start at just 64 euros per night as well.
Conclusion
This is a good offer, if you happen to be on the city like Baku or Addis Ababa, where hotels are expensive. August is the traditional summer vacation month in Europe and the paid rates in business hotels tend to be on the low side. It always makes sense to check all the rates.
