Back in February this year Starwood introduced both lifetime Platinum and Gold status on their Preferred Guest program. The requirement for lifetime Platinum is 500 nights + 10 years as a Platinum member and for Gold 250 nights + 5 years of Gold or higher status.
I was a somewhat late bloomer when it comes to SPG. I had plenty of friends staying at their properties, but my personal preference for long was Hyatt and InterContinental. Finally decided to bite the bullet and joined the program five years ago. During this time period I have had more than 400 stays with the Starwood.
Today came the email welcoming me to Lifetime Gold status. There is also a small graphic online showing my lifetime Gold status when I sign in to SPG.com.
It is also nice to have a lifetime hotel status in addition to the lifetime Platinum with American Airlines and Premier Gold with United Airlines. I should be SPG Platinum for life in five years’ time.
