Marriott made an announcement on their “Marriott Community” that the qualification requirements for the various Marriott lifetime statuses would be changing next year:
The current qualification requirements are as I have posted earlier here:
Silver
– Member of the program minimum of 12 years
– Number of Marriott Rewards points earned 1.2 million
– Number of Marriott nights 600
– Must have qualified as a Silver member at least once during the program membership
Gold
– Member of the program minimum of 12 years
– Number of Marriott Rewards points earned 1.6 million
– Number of Marriot nights 800
– Must have qualified as a Gold member at least once during the program membership
Platinum
– Member of the program minimum of 12 years
– Number of Marriott Rewards points earned 2 million
– Number of Marriot nights 1000
– Must have qualified as a Platinum member at least once during the program membership
This “Michelle”, the official Marriott Rewards social media spokesperson, makes very little sense. The requirements of the lifetime statuses that I have listed above have been well known and most definitely are not urban legend.
Conclusion
It is interesting to see the “official” requirements for various levels that are supposedly made public early next year. The only hint that “Michelle” gives is that the number of year requirement is going away.
