Club Carlson is offering you the ability to convert Gold Points for airline miles with 24 airline partners. You can convert points in three increments; 2000 points for 250 airline miles, 50000 points for 8000 miles and 100000 points for 18000 miles.
Hotel points are most of the time best when used for complimentary stays, but I have transferred them out to airlines quite often from SPG. This was my first time converting Club Carlson points to miles and transferring them to United to take advantage of their conversion bonus that just ended.
Club Carlson currently has 24 airlines partners; Aeromexico, Aeroplan, Air Berlin, Air China, Air France-KLM, American Airlines, Asiana, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Czech, Delta, Emirates, Etihad, Frontier, Gulf Air, Icelandair, Japan Airlines, Jet Airways, Lan Chile, Lufthansa Miles & More, SAS, United & US Airways.
Here’s the transfer process
First you need to choose the airline, input your frequent flier number, choose the package, and the number of them. Here I ordered three 100000 Gold Points to United miles that were worth 18K United miles each.
Then, you are presented with a confirmation screen and you need to agree to the terms and conditions. When you click it, the terms are actually empty.
You are then advised that Club Carlson will do the transfer in 5 to 7 days and that it may take 6 to 8 weeks for the miles to post to the airline.
The miles posted to my United account in two days.
I like to take advantage of airline offers for converting hotel points to miles. United just run a promotion for 15K bonus miles for conversion(s) of 50K miles or more.
The 300K Club Carlson Gold Points would have been good for 6 free nights at their top of the line properties. The number of miles that I will receive after the United’s conversion bonus is 69K.
