Priority Club has started to offer greater benefits for Gold and Platinum members and a free drink for just being a member in Greater China; China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. You can access this benefit change page here.

These extended benefits have been valid from November 1 and the free internet benefit is applicable from January 1, 2013.

Club Member:

-Welcome drink

Gold Member:

-Welcome drink
-15% off difference in room rates to upgrade to Club Floor or suites (Club Lounge access when upgrading to Club Floor)
-Free in-room Internet access (available from 1 January 2013)

Platinum Member:

-Welcome drink
-Free upgrade to next room category
-30% off difference in room rates to upgrade to Club Floor or suites (Club Lounge access when upgrading to Club Floor)
-In-room amenity
-Free in-room Internet access (available from 1 January 2013)

Most of the western chains in China have already offered more than what is the absolute minimum required by the brand due to competitive reasons. It is good that Priority Club is now making these benefits confirmed, but I would like to see them extended for other countries as well.

The Platinum benefit is a one category upgrade from a booked room/suite but it is not confirmed and it is based on availability at check in. Most of the hotels tend to upgrade their top tier members by more than one category.

It is disappointing that the club access, where club is available, and/or breakfast is still not a benefit of Priority Club Platinum status. InterContinental Hotels Group should really fix this.

Conclusion

It is good to see Priority Club making some efforts to match what other chains are already offering. They should make these + club access and/or breakfast benefit chainwide for Platinum members.
