Emirates Skywards Awards Now Available on Alaska Airlines

Emirates and Alaska signed a frequent flier agreement last year. The members of Emirates’ and Alaska’s frequent flier programs have been able to earn both elite and redeemable miles on each others metal since March 1, 2012.

Redeeming Emirates miles on Alaska has not been available, however. This will change in January 16, 2013.

Emirates has now published an award chart for using Skywards miles on Alaska’s network and there are really no surprises.

According to the information on Emirates’ website, you need to make the booking using an online form. You can find the Alaska’s award availability for free using American Airlines’ online award booking tool, even if you don’t have any AA miles.

It is good that North American members of Emirates’ Skywards members now have the ability to redeem for flights within United States, Canada, Mexico, and Hawaii.

Here are the terms and conditions of these awards:

  •  Award tickets are valid on all flights with ‘AS’ designator code, where Alaska Airlines is the operating carrier.

  • Skywards Saver reward rules apply.

  • Reward seats are subject to availability.

  • Children travelling on award tickets will be required to redeem the same number of Miles as that of an adult.

  • All flights must be confirmed at the time of Miles redemption. Waitlists are not permitted.

  • Mileage stated is for direct flights only. Where no direct service is operated two or more rewards may be required.

  • The purchaser of an award ticket is responsible for all applicable taxes, fees, and checked baggage charges imposed by the transporting carrier(s) or U.S. or international authorities.
